jungle jeff & Corporate Blogs

Last Sunday, on the connecting flight from Paris to Helsinki, I flew Finnair.

Like Delta Airline’s Sky Magazine, Finnair has a similar publication in every seat back pocket.

In usual fashion, my eyes gravitated to what many would overlook.

Here’s the photo – a picture’s worth a 1,000 words:

Happy corporate blogging. Carpe diem, jungle jeff 🙂

PS.  For any potential critics out there that might be saying, “So what’s your point jungle jeff?  I thought you said August was going to be about how you are applying what Disney has taught you to raising your son”?

And I say, “Exactly.  Did I mention my son has started blogging”?

And did I mention, “He’s eight”?

Carpe diem, jungle jeff 🙂

Benefits of Corporate Blogs

What are the benefits of Corporate Blogs?  Many, to be sure.  So what are they?

That page is still being written.  It’s so new, to most people, that there hasn’t yet been enough time to make any concrete predictions.

However, I’ll go on record and predict this – every great organization will have a Corporate Blog(s).

Don’t believe it?  That’s okay.  I’m flying Delta this week.  In checking to see if my flights have wifi, I discovered something else.

Click here to see Delta’s Corporate Blog.  Pretty cool.

The business world is just getting warmed up.  And so am I.

Carpe diem, jungle jeff 🙂

Is Disney afraid to take risks?

Is Disney afraid to take risks?

Not in a million years.  Walt Disney was the ultimate “envelope-pusher”.

Pushing the envelope is a phrase used when someone goes where no man or woman has gone before. Faster, higher, longer, deeper, more difficult, whatever.

In ten years of traveling regularly, I’ve never seen In-Flight Internet access.

Until yesterday.

It worked GREAT.

It was easy to create an account at www.gogoinflight.com .  Seems like gogo inflight is pushing the envelope.

The world is changing.  Fast.

I’ll bet if Walt Disney was alive, he’d love the speed, and, the breeze in his face.

I know I sure do.  Carpe diem, jungle jeff  🙂

Would Walt Disney have a blog?

Would Walt Disney have a blog?

Probably, in my opinion.

Walt always taught his associates to push the envelope and be in front of the competition.  Find new ways to inform and entertain our audience.

Do you have a blog?

If you do, great.   If you don’t, let me please ask you a few questions, Do you own a cell phone? Do you have an email address?  Do you have a mail box or some other way to send or receive traditional postal mail? Do you have a computer?

All of the above, right?

Pretty soon, everyone will have a computer. Everyone. Not just every household, but ever lap will have a laptop – maybe as small as a cell phone. Notepads, those small 8-9 inch screen “laptops” are selling for $250.

The future is the Internet. Whether you embrace it or not, whether you find a million ways to have it help your business or not, it’s the future. I always believe the time to act is when you don’t have too. Get in on the social media phenomenon, or get left behind.

Seriously. I study this stuff and have an eight year old. I want him to come to me for answers, not say, “Don’t ask my Dad, he’s clueless”.

Make it an exciting and meaningful day.  There are probably a lot of people hoping for you do be that kind of person today.  Carpe diem, jungle jeff  🙂

Are you by design or by default?

Is your corporate cultureBy Design” or “By Default“?

Do you even know what I’m taking about?

Is your personal cultureBy Design” or “By Default“?

Or, does your culture “just sort of happen”?

I’d bet a majority of you still don’t know what I’m talking about.  That’s ok.  No worries.  Hakuna matata.

When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.

Make your day purposeful, by design.  If you don’t, who will?  Carpe diem, jungle jeff  🙂
