They Really Want to Be Excellent

Last one, for now. And I have to tell you, They must really want to be excellent.

Hope you’ve enjoyed this insightful journey into the relative simplicity for having a world-class corporate culture.  It works for personal branding too.

How does a one-take-You tube video, five-a-day blogger know? If I have to explain it to you, you won’t understand.

Be well and do GREAT work!

How Important is Trust?

Do You Trust The Makers Of Candy Cigarettes?
Do You Trust The Makers Of Candy Cigarettes?

Trust is often placed on the list of top leadership skills, while people are compiling key leadership skills and attributes.

How important is trust when stacked up against all the other critical leadership values?

Ever ponder the top key leadership values great leaders possess? Are you now? Good. Here are some that always make the list:

  • Vision
  • Communication
  • Results
  • Inspiration
  • Integrity
  • Trust
  • Experience
  • Relationships
  • Recognition
  • Passion
  • Focus

What do you say is your number one leadership trait?

For me, it’s trust. Everything else revolves around this simple, and often overlooked leader character trait. I place trust ahead of passion, because a leader may have passion, but people mistrust motives, for example.

If you really think about it, how can anything else matter without trust?

jungle jeff Daily Reflections on Excellence

jungle jeff Daily Reflections on Excellence.  Created the tag line, Daily Reflections on Excellence, a long time ago. It just felt right.

And of course, the term, jungle jeff, goes all the way back to January 1982, when I was a seasonal Walt Disney World Cast Member, and Jungle Cruise Skipper.

Had a college degree and was wearing a straw hat, polyester costume, plus I carried a microphone and a real gun.

And, get this, being able to work for Disney, a world-class organization, founded on excellence, it all seemed to speak to my dual approach to life.  Crazy and serious.

So the two seemed a natural fit.  And that’s why I use jungle jeff Daily Reflections on Excellence all these years later.

There are milestones in your life, just like everyone else.  The question is, it seems, is there significant value in perpetuating their memory?

I’d love to hear your story.  Comment here or email [email protected] Carpe diem.

Morons Beware

Morons beware. I don’t use moron in my vocabulary, because it sounds derogatory. However, using it in a blog title is catchy and gutsy. In business, who doesn’t like that combination?

“The death of education and the dawn of learning”. (can you identify the “morons”?):

Bob Dylan said it best, “He who’s not busy being born, is busy dying”.

Betting nine out of ten will not watch this video. Nine out of ten don’t exercise either.  Nine out of ten spend more than they earn.

Not judging. Just stating simple probability. Only the mediocre are at their best all the time.

If not today, when. The clock is ticking. Carpe diem, jeff noel 🙂

PS. There were no morons in the video.

Missing It?

Missing it?  Absolutely missing it.

What then?  And btw, this is today’s second post.  Read the next one after this, if you don’t want to miss a thing.

I miss posting about this Disney website.

What has just rattled my own cage is today’s post by Seth Godin. Click here to read “Competing with the Single-Minded” and be inspired to challenge the status quo.

Ignoring the facts does not change them.  If I have to explain this to you, you are in trouble.  Seriously.

It’s a wonder the Ostrich isn’t extinct.  Carpe diem, jungle jeff 🙂
