Walt Disney Has Made Me A Better Person

Walt Disney has made me a better person.

Why?  How?

Great questions, to be sure.

Our son’s birthday is in August, so starting tomorrow, I’d like to begin a new chapter at jungle jeff that will help readers see how surprisingly simple Walt Disney’s philosophies are.

The goal will be to showcase some simple, no cost ways my life improved as a Dad, by adapting what Walt Disney thought was important.

I really believe it will help you see how Walt  Disney thought, in a way you probably never thought of before.

And once you understand how simple and effective Walt Disney’s philosophies are – and how they can even be applied to being a better person – the more likely you’ll be to want to try it yourself.

Deal?

Great.  See ya real soon, and, oh yeah, carpe diem, jungle jeff 🙂

PS.  Tomorrow, I’ll tell you the Twistee Treat “tradition” story.

Walt Disney & Roy Disney

Walt Disney and Roy Disney.  What a combination.  One of the key things that made them a great team was their differences.

Walt, in my opinion, was the modern-day father of creativity.   Roy, well, perhaps a financial genius. And both were very hard workers.

I think I met their reincarnations last night, on Sanibel Island.

I’ll call them Vince and Dirk.

Two men, both entrepreneurs, formed a small business partnership, and shared with me their incredible vision for their future.

What I love about Vince and Dirk is they represent, to me, seasoned business professionals who are capitalizing on these turbulent times, using technology and creativity, to position themselves for growth.

One watches every penny.  One uses enthusiasm to spawn creativity.  Both hustle and work incredibly hard.

I got excited just listening to their story.

If you told your story to a complete stranger, do you think that stranger would get excited about what you’ve done and what you are about to do?

I sure hope so.  Carpe diem, jungle jeff 🙂

Twitter, Disney, Twitter?

Twitter and Disney?   Are you kidding me?   Nope.   It’s gonna happen.   At least that’s what I believe.  Twitter is on my radar.  Is it on yours?

In picking today’s topic, this headline caught my eye.  Click on it to read:  “Ashton Kutcher wins Twitter battle with CNN

I’m focused on better ways to market my business, especially no-cost, leading edge technology.    Why?

To me, at the end of the day, if people don’t know who you are and how you can help them, then I think you’re not serious about helping others.

Social networking, social media, business networking, business media – no matter what you call it, or how comfortable you using it, has one goal.   Know what it is?

To offer (sell) more stuff, to more people, more often.

Pretty bold, eh?

When a someone once called me audacious, I had to look it up.   We never used words like that in Spring Grove, Pennsylvania where I grew up.  It means bold and out of place.

In today’s world, if you haven’t noticed, the Internet has flooded (deluged) us with “important” messages.   How will you be noticed?   How are you keeping up with your competition?  Carpe diem, jungle jeff  🙂

Creativity means what?

What are the big two, three or four key drivers for you and your leadership behavior?

I believe in innovation, technology and global reach.

I’m curious by nature, so let me please ask you, “Did you have an immediate answer”?

Great if you did.  If you didn’t, imagine the unbelievable potential you have to get, and stay, focused.

Curious still.  If you do have a list, how many others know of it? How often do you focus on it?

Bottom Line?  How important is focus?

Million-dollar question……how focused are you?

Today is an excellent day to make your list or revisit your list.  If not today, when?  If not you, who?  Carpe diem, jeff noel 🙂

What’s the downside to creativity?

What’s the downside to creativity?

Being creative does not mean being productive.

Huh?

Creativity can be defined as generating useful ideas, in any domain.  Most people assume that a bunch of creative ideas is something great.  It really isn’t.  Seriously, it’s not  Because, if none of your creative ideas ever get implemented, then what do you have?  N-u-t-h-i-n’.  Nuthin!  Period!

Want to know the key?

Curious about world-class spin on this “creativity issue”?

Here’s the deal:

Innovation is the implementation of a creative idea!

That’s the secret at world-class organizations, like Disney.  They focus on creativity and implementation, in order to create innovations that make things better for their Employees, Customers, or Business practices.

Personally, I think of Walt Disney as the “Father of Creativity”.

What Walt really deserves credit for was his ability to innovate – to implement new, creative ideas.  He was the ultimate “envelope pusher”.

So what?”  A simple question.  One I began using a decade ago for the sole purpose of challenging people to adapt, not adopt “book theory” best practices.

On a scale of 1-10 (10 is excellent), how would others (not you) rate you on your drive, your vision, your energy, to push creative ideas through to implementation?

I hope you like your number.  I didn’t like mine when I did this exercise.  So I did something about it.  I started to practice what I preach.

That has made all the difference.

Make it a GREAT day, because if you don’t, who will?

Carpe diem, jungle jeff  🙂
