Nervous

A half-hour has been blocked at 3:30pm today to gather for jungle jeff’s ‘Disney years of service’ award. Thirty years at Disney used to be rare back in the day. Most of the people receiving that milestone were hired as part of the opening team in 1971 or hired shortly thereafter.

You felt privileged to be in attendance at their special recognition.

Nowadays, 30 years isn’t such a big deal.

Unless it’s you.

Then it’s pretty surreal.

While 30 years at Disney isn’t rare, 30 years with a single organization in 2014 is.

The nervous part?

Hard to explain.

Three for three. Great batting average. Perfect.

Fairly easy to boast high scores when you’re literally the only game in town.

A remarkable leader is one who people will stay with even when there is new opportunity elsewhere.

Dinner last night was just good. Breakfast this morning (2 thumbs down) and lunch just now (2 thumbs up).

Even to the point of building a home behind the Disney’s Magic Kingdom Theme Park.

The dream that was once only a tiny acorn is now a grand oak.

Last night had a flashback to 18 months ago at work.

That moment when you wanted to be in bed 30 minutes ago because you’re spent, but kept feeding on Internet inspiration… and came to a realization…

You packed up all your meager belongings and drove from Washington State to Orlando to work for a Man and a Mouse….

And it’s now been 30 years at Walt Disney World Resort, including the past 15 speaking to over one-million people…

How’d that happen?
