Loyalty, Disney Style

As Keynote speaking tips are discovered, they get shared at junglejeff.net for you.

If you have any desire to speak or to become a better speaker, an example of eight sound speaking tips is here.

Did you know? A few years before retiring from Disney in 2014, there was a personal idea (and challenge) to begin omitting “i, me, my, mine” in all communications: email, text, written notes.

Why?

Subconsciously, most of us communicate selfishly.

Start taking a closer look at the messages you receive. Count the ratio between the sender’s “i, me, my, mine” versus the sender’s “you, your, our, us, and we”.

Almost to a fault, we are internally (personally) focused versus externally (the receiver) focused.

Count the “i’s, me’s, my’s and mine’s”(ommitting the ones in “parenthesis” to explain the concept). Do the same with “you, your, our, us, we”.

Totals (excluding the one in “parenthesis”):

i, me, my, mine = 0

you, your, our, us, we = 5

Organize to maximize your creativity

If Disney Ran Your Life podcast ideas
If Disney Ran Your Life podcast ideas for today’s recording session with Jody Maberry.

Organize to maximize your creativity.

Today’s If Disney Ran Your Life podcast episode recordings are:

  1. Planning
  2. Over-focus

These are similar yet different enough to be two separate episodes. You can plan to over-focus. You can over-focus on your planning.

But it is difficult to plan well if you don’t over-focus; learning to be intentionally over-focused on the same things you used to (unintentionally) under-focus on or ignore.

We are not born organized. We learn (or don’t learn) to be organized. Planning and organized are synonymous.

If Disney Ran Your Life is broad and deep

story board
As of February 12, 2019 this storyboard is the plan. This goes live April 12. We’ll see if we stayed true or detoured.

If Disney Ran Your Life is broad and deep.

This Podcast is one of the most fun, unpredictable, and rewarding experiences ever. Professionally, it ranks with starting a business in 2009, initiating the writing of 5 daily, differently-themed blogs (also in 2009), and retiring from Disney on Halloween in 2014.

It does not rank as high as becoming a Disney professional speaker at Disney Institute in 1999.

Why?

Podcasting is not a life-changer. But becoming a public speaker was. Until 1999, never knew i was born to teach.

Over-focus is my hypothesis

Disney Business insight
Twitter, yesterday. It’s unclear whether Disney Institute condones this image being public.
Disney Business insight
There’s a school of thought that says, “Give away your best content for free.”

Over-focus is my hypothesis…

Over-focus on the same things others under-focus on or ignore.
