Number One Thing to Do

Out On The Ledge - Chicago
Out On The Ledge - Chicago

First of all, thanks for coming back. Can you believe today is Christmas eve?

Do you already now what I’m going to say?

It’s simple. Deceptively simple.

The number one thing to do is to create a compelling vision.  Period.

Compelling.

Not long winded. Not fancy. No big words.

It must also be impossible.  And it must be for some bigger purpose, meaning, not for yourself.

When you learn how to harness this powerful leadership success tip, there is nothing that can stop you. Nothing.

Well, hold on, there is one thing.  Do you know what it is?

Tomorrow is Christmas day and it’ll be my gift to you.

Epiphany For Culture

Good is the Enemy
Good is the Enemy

Driving to Church last Sunday, it hit me. An epiphany. Not a Christian epiphany, a corporate epiphany.

Do you ever wonder why some succeed and some don’t? Or wonder why some achieve excellence and others remain behind, being good or very good?

The secret?  It’s so simple that most of us, myself included, bypass it or drastically discount it.

If you’ve ever read Good to Great or heard from others who’ve described what the bestselling business book is about, you know that good is the enemy of great.

And because of this, there’s one simple technique that we can all learn from history. And I’ll share it with you first thing tomorrow.  Want to guess what it is?

jungle jeff may need a medic.

Wait, I’m simply playing around here as I try to write something that takes minimal effort.

I am, after all, on vacation.

On vacation next to the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Downtown Disney, Disney Quest, Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard Beach, Disney’s Grand Floridan Resort and Spa, Disney’s Contemporary Resort….

Wait, stop it.  You’re just rubbing it in that you live right next door to all of Disney’s Magic.

And you already know it’s probably very sunny, very warm and nothing but blue skies.

And that we have annual passes and can Park Hop virtually all year long.

Uh huh. Don’t you just hate vacation?

Yeah, me neither. 🙂

Woo-hoo!  jungle jeff is on vacation!

Now I can really get some work done.  Here’s my list:

  1. Slow down

Will let you know how this goes.  Carpe diem.

Walt Disney Died December 15

It was, and still is, a sad day for many people, December 15, 1966.

For it was on this day in history that Walt Disney died.

Being born in 1959, I was old enough to remember watching Walt Disney on Sunday nights, as he came into the living rooms of Americans across the country.

He made such an impression on me that I eventually found my way to Disneyland as a 12-year old Guest.

And years later, while attending a Pennsylvania College, I spent a winter semester (1982) as a Magic Kingdon Adventureland Jungle Cruise skipper, jungle jeff.

There’s more, much more, about this Disney story, but it’s a tale for another time.

Have a Magical Day everyone.  Signing off from Orlando, Florida and living right next to the Walt Disney World Resort,  jungle jeff  🙂

PS. We miss you Walt.
