Hard to focus with a never-ending sense of urgency

Accepting the Professional Speaker position at Disney Institute in March 1999 led to an incredible revelation.

The past 15 years in Walt Disney World Resort Operations had taken a toll.

Urgency addiction was insidious.

The first hint came quickly, in the first couple weeks at Disney Institute… being able to go to lunch at the same time everyday. And to actually eat lunch at a leisurely pace without any interruptions.

Like hitting the lottery.

WordPress Orlando Meetup

What does it mean when we say, “Time will tell?”

WordCamp Orlando in less than two months away. They are looking for a few more speakers.

It’s highly likely they’ve never had a world class professional keynote speaker at any of their meetings.

Ever.

Makes sense.

The people speaking are developers, programmers, and creative geniuses. They are not speakers.

Maybe they could use a speaker on how to enhance speaking skills.

Or maybe a speaker on how to dream impossible dreams.

After four years attending WordPress Orlando Meetups, maybe there will soon be an opportunity to give back.

Time will tell.

And something they’ll pay whatever it costs to get it done.

It’s been 15 years since first speaking here. And 30 years total at WDW.

The point is, Disney Institute, while a great idea at inception in 1996 has morphed into something not remotely part of the original vision.

Remarkably different.

This is a metaphor for our life.

Let that flexibility, challenge, and growth inspire you to reach ridiculously high.
