Time, work

Four people at the shore of a mountain Lake
Traditional way to start our annual summer visit.

Exciting to see three high school freshmen move to their next life phase.

How does a decade fly by?

What their first ‘real’ jobs teach them is exciting.

Busy-ness is toxic

When our calendar is packed and then a small but important to solve challenge appears. And sometimes (daily?) more than one challenge appears. Photo: This 17 should never be more than two. Never.

Business consulting-type work has heightened my awareness of, and ability to consciously detect, how busy most people are.

It’s obscene.

The stress has unknowingly become contagious.

But now it’s crystal clear.

Ask me how much busy-ness i can tolerate at this life-stage.

Easy answer at six-plus decades on the planet and five-plus decades in the workforce…

Zero.

Career gymnastics

zoom call screen photo
Spent five hours combing through all my FaceBook posts. Monica’s Real Estate Business Podcast was recorded as a kickoff to her “tribe” of ambitious real estate agents. They listened to one episode per week and then discussed it in a separate (also weekly) Zoom meeting. Watched about 15 minutes of it and it was ‘pretty good’. So i didn’t delete it. It’s here.

Career gymnastics.

Don’t let your blind ambition erase your intuition.

Climb high, but ensure you love what you do.

A ‘good’ paycheck is a high price to pay when you wish you had a more fulfilling job.

Work is only work if you’d rather be doing something else.

Time on my work

Disney Institute facilitation team Photo, 2007
Photo from 2005. We met at Disney Institute (DI) HQ at Celebration Place. Then took a DI (WDW) Company van to Backstage Disney’s Animal Kingdom (DAK). Then toured DAK before 9am.

Have said this since 2009-ish, i work seven days a week in order to have balance (vibrancy) in my life.

Time.

Who’s got time after the daily (career) work to do important things for themselves and the people they love?

Literally no one.

i broke the cycle in my own life.

There’s no ‘Super Bowl’ ring to prove it.

If there was, i’d need about 16 fingers to wear them all.

Time is wealth

Rest has been consistent. Grateful for that victory.

Time is wealth.

Time is a blessing.

Wealth is a blessing. Wealth can also be a curse (the opposite of blessing).

Too much time can feel like a prison. Take a 90-year old lying on a nursing home bed. Unable to sit up or get out of bed without a nurse.

A blessing is wealth. It can also be poverty (the opposite of wealth).

Too much wealth can feel like a prison. Do your friends like you because you’re you, or because you’re financially rich?
