Leadership By Disney

Leadership done the Disney way.  What does that mean?  For starters it means that Leadership is HUGE at Disney.  In fact, it’s huge in every world-class organization.  It’s even huge in serious, small businesses.

Good leaders get good results.  Great leaders get great results.  Ever do the math on the difference between good and great results?

Last night my family and I watched the classic Disney – Pixar DVD, “A Bug’s Life“.  In the opening few minutes, the young Queen Ant “in training”, makes an excuse, after something terrible had happened.  She said, “It wasn’t my fault”.

The Grasshopper laughed at her statement and told her, “The first lesson in leadership – everything is your fault”.

I found that scene, especially the comments, intriguing.

Wonder if anyone recalls that Bug’s Life scene?  If you where discussing leadership with smart people, would you tell the truth or sugar-coat things?   Carpe diem,  jeff noel  🙂

jeff noel + blog =?

Hey, business blogs and professional networking are occupying a big part of my dreaming capacity these days.    How is it with you?   The dreaming part.

To me, dreaming is synonymous with vision, in my opinion.

How important is vision?  What is your vision each and every day.  This can be challenging to answer.

Why?

Because we often don’t think about it.  Why?  Because we are so busy trying to accomplish what’s directly in front of us.  Am I wrong?

Wanted to add a quick post  to share a vision that business blogs and social networking will someday soon be an energizing force to help make the world a better place.  I can feel it in my bones.

What are you passionate about?  What do you dream about?  Who needs to be involved?  How long do you have?

When do you find time to think of questions like these, let alone answer them?

I’m challenging myself to work harder and smarter than ever.  I hope you do what feels right for you, and for your organization.

To me, it feels like the clock is ticking faster.  The competition, working harder.  Carpe diem, jungle jeff noel  🙂

Diversity?

It’s our differences that unite us.

So, part of diversity is our belief system.  I celebrate Easter, and therefore, wish anyone reading this, “Happy Easter“!

Realizing that many of you do not celebrate Easter, I completely understand and totally respect our differences.  To you, may I please wish you a joyful day, in your special and unique way?

This is what Diversity is all about.  And many companies embrace Diversity, and I’m encouraged by the World’s progress.

When Walt Disney was dreaming, he said Epcot would be about two things.  Epcot would celebrate, everyday, the things that unite us, like technology, innovation, etc.  Epcot would also celebrate the things that make us different, like culture, beliefs, etc.

This is played out perfectly at the Epcot Theme Park in the two sections, Future World and World Showcase.

Make today a great day to remember what’s important to you and to try to celebrate it everyday!  Carpe diem, jungle jeff  🙂

Why ask these questions?

I often ask myself, “Are you doing all you can do to embody the ideals of Walt and Roy Disney“?

Another popular question, “Are their values still relevant“?

Still another, “How can I demonstrate those values in the best way possible“?

Why these questions?

Because Walt Disney and Roy Disney were razor-focused on delivering the very best product, pushing boundaries, and growing their business.

That still seems relevant to me.  Does it to you?

Make it a great day.

Google this!

You know what I love about technology?

Everything!

We don’t stop doing things because we get old.  We get old because we stop doing things.

I find it very challenging to keep up with it all.  Most do.  But I will not stop trying.

Remember the post from last week, about Tiger Woods’ response to my question?  Reading it again reminded me of the basic premise to being world-class.   It’s so simple and so profound.  It’s become a daily mantra.

Just googled some specific keywords and found a short, but interesting video post.  As soon as I get time, I’d like to post the link so you can see how free technology can help you, and your organization become excellent, or stay excellent.

I plan to be world-class today.   Better get going.  The rooster’s about to crow.

Carpe diem, jungle jeff 🙂
