In a few minutes, i began to understand the magnitude of the classroom punk-effort.
One flip-chart after another…there was a new message.
Even live-action character quotes.
Underneath, another gem. They tried to disguise it with an official-looking “Day 2” title page.
Underneath.
Different handwriting is the first clue this involved more than one person.
The classroom would think i drew this. i did not.
This TED Talk by Harvard Business School Professor uses authenticity, logic, and empathy as three points for her triangle model in building (and rebuilding) trust.
What was significant to me early on in her speech was a secondary message addressing being authentic.

September 27, 2017…today’s post reminds me the first six years of my business (2008-2014, while still at Disney), i didn’t make a dime.
Good morning New Years Eve.
Ahhh, the final day of 2017.
Hoping when this post goes live in 30 days, my signed contracts will have generated almost as much revenue as all of 2017.
Impossible, right?
To not yet be into the second month of the year (when this goes live) and be just shy of last year’s total revenue is something i never saw coming.
Note: 2017 was by far the best of my first three years on my own, or “Life after Disney” as some say. So to be within striking distance of topping the best year ever is surreal.
Second note: The final seven months (May-Dec) of my second year (2016) i had no contracts – a seven-month drought. Plus, there were no contracts for 2017. This is about as scary as it gets. “Maybe i was wrong about leaving Disney” permeated my waking thoughts.
Hope and faith sustained me when all seemed lost.

Caught this on Twitter yesterday…i use #7in1 to tag all my Disney Book Writing locations. i’m not the only one who writes prolifically, a 7-book series (by 7 authors?).
Show up.
Be honest.
Be real.
Be helpful.
Do what you say you’re going to do.
And don’t quit when you feel like quitting.
Ps. You’ll often feel like quitting (writing) until you eventually get to the point where not writing is never an option.
If there ever was a common man’s nirvana, it may be writing like you mean it, like it matters, like someone will benefit because you have the guts to ship, day after day after day.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.
The boy exclaimed as we became airborne, “Goodbye Florida. See you soon Florida.”
Leadership is remarkably easy and insanely challenging.
It really depends on your audience, and what their motives are and how interactions with you help or hinder their motives.
The little boy and his Mom were incredibly grateful that i traded seats so the boy could see out the window. i made their day with a simple act of kindness.
Conversely, a key contract employee i’m working with thinks i’m disorganized and slow. And interestingly enough, i think he could be milking the system.
It’s eating away at us. i’ve began the resolution a week ago by calling a face-to-face meeting and airing (awkwardly) my concerns. Still waiting for deliverables, yet remaining hopeful.
In my wildest dreams, i pray we both couldn’t be farther from the truth.
