Have you begun thinking for yourself?

Do what scares you, like summiting a mountain, or thinking for yourself.

Have you begun thinking for yourself?

Did you even know you weren’t?

Odds are high, if you’re typical (and i am), that you are conforming to the way things normally get done.

For example:

  • We speed in our car because everyone else does
  • We read quotes because it’s easy and inspiring
  • We hit the snooze button because it feels good

What if…

  • We drive the speed limit
  • We are quote-worthy
  • We get out of bed after the first alarm

See how these changes need to be a conscious and consistent choice?

See the power in thinking for yourself?

Away in a manger

Great leaders encourage creativity, fun, and excellent results.

Away in a manger.

Whatever you believe, here’s to wishing we are all in on our beliefs.

Leadership thrives when leaders are authentic.

Think about it, you are at your best when you are true to yourself.

Christmas is the birth of the most important story in my life.

This story that i love starts so ridiculously impossible – no room at the Inn, giving birth in a barn, a manger with straw for a bed.

Sitting is always easier

executive decision making chart
Sent Jody Maberry this photo yesterday after reading Dan Cockerell’s weekly newsletter. The left edge categories need to switch. In this same newsletter came Dan’s announcement that he’s moving to a paid subscription. i have been talking to Jody Maberry about making the If Disney Ran Your Life Podcast a paid subscription. No one does this which is why i want to.

It’s easier to sit than it is to exercise.

Easier to sleep in than to awaken before sunrise.

Easier to zone out on late night shows than to climb into bed early.

Your personal effort is undermined by your inputs.

And the same thing is true for corporate culture.

Personal goal achievement and organizational vibrancy require more than good intent.

Fix this, yesterday

wisdom
You find answers in direct proportion to where you look.

What one person embodies your organization’s DNA and purpose above all others?

What are you afraid of letting go of and why are you afraid?

If your most impassioned advocate isn’t in charge of culture, ask yourself, “Why the heck not?”

Fix this.

Yesterday.

Another TED Talk on Building (and rebuilding) Trust

Disney Classroom flip charts
In a few minutes, i began to understand the magnitude of the classroom punk-effort.

One flip-chart after another…there was a new message.

Even live-action character quotes.

Underneath, another gem. They tried to disguise it with an official-looking “Day 2” title page.

Underneath.

Different handwriting is the first clue this involved more than one person.

The classroom would think i drew this. i did not.

This TED Talk by Harvard Business School Professor uses authenticity, logic, and empathy as three points for her triangle model in building (and rebuilding) trust.

What was significant to me early on in her speech was a secondary message addressing being authentic.
