Leadership

Pixar puzzle framed
Have you ever been put down and mocked because of where you worked? If yes, was it from people you trusted? If yes, what did you do?

Never make a statement you can’t defend in a room with any number of level-headed leaders.

Change doesn’t change the…

Pixar character from Geri's Game
We are all gonna die. Some of us will forget to live. Some of us will never learn how to live. Some of us will be afraid to live. Some of us will live despite everything.

The truth about change.

Change doesn’t change the truth.

The other truth about change.

An irrefutable truth is that change is a constant.

Change or die.

Adapt or die.

Some dying is physical, but the deaths in today’s thread are the death of a growth mindset. The death of your health. The death of peace. The death of career contribution. The death of an organized home.

The deaths you should pursue are the deaths of anything prohibiting personal vibrancy.

The truth is hard until it isn’t

It’s 6am and after writing this email reply (below) for someone on the other side of our planet, it dawned on me that there is organic wisdom in here that is applicable outside of our (Amanda and me) conversation…

Here’s the email…

Thanks for your notes Amanda.

Yeah, we should do a WhatsApp call next week. Or Zoom. Or FaceTime.

Couple quick thoughts about how i’ve personally attacked the issues: The best resource, i believe, is observation – and avoiding comparison at all costs. Watch what people and companies do, never listen to what they say. Words are crafted by marketing, actions are crafted by culture.

Words are crafted by marketing. Actions are crafted by culture.

If you are willing to listen to If Disney Ran Your Life from the beginning, you will see how everything builds and how habits are the key. Especially habits in what we think and dream and do. Life is always happening…to you or for you…doesn’t matter…life is always happening…this is never gonna change…what and how you react now, and plan ahead for, are foundational for life – are you familiar with the story about Three Little Pigs?

The truth is hard until it isn’t.

Accept this reality, put structure and processes in place to become a great CEO of You, Inc, and soar with personal vibrancy.

Life is not a dress rehearsal. Live like you mean it.

Great Disney leaders are active and visible

Hey, suggestion…read the post first and then watch this 20-minute video. Of course, 20 minutes is a luxury and probably impossible for you at this moment).

Ps. It may be one of the most important videos you watch this year. It certainly is for me. And if you are wondering why, click here.

Great Disney leaders are active and visible.

Why?

Because the only time a leader comes around is when                        .

Fill in the blank.

When there’s something wrong.

You get the picture.

When people see you frequently (and consistently) they start to let their guard down – because conversations go past work and naturally lead to personal – we don’t care how much a person knows until we know how much a person cares.

Not until your team is comfortable with you being around, will they start telling you the truth about what’s going on.

Until then, you’re being handled.

Good luck changing your habits.

It’s only impossible until you figure out what to let go of.

Truth be told about inspiration

Virginia Falls hike
Up we go, another 50 stories.

Virginia Falls hike
Made it. Virginia Falls.

Virginia Falls hike
The dare would have seen us walk halfway down this fallen log and jump in.

Virginia Falls hike
We climbed a little higher to get to the base of Virginia Falls.

Virginia Falls hike
Hiking back to the Baring Falls dock and the return to Rising Sun Marina.

Virginia Falls hike
Last year’s wildfire happened shortly after we returned home. The damage was more extensive than i thought.

Virginia Falls hike
Same boat, different dock, another stunning view.

Virginia Falls hike
Mountain living.

Inspiration is so underrated because most have never spent a lifetime working where (Disney) it’s clearly seen as a competitive advantage. Glacier is inspiring. Making this visit a priority is also inspiring.
