Love the outcome?

Too often, we think our finished product is the measure of our worth.

Well, it is, truth be told.

But..

But we know there’s something more to it yet it eludes us. Right?

Here it is…

The finished product is one part tangible thing we created, and one part who we’ve become in the process.

The insidious transformation from never quitting, over time, becomes a remarkable piece of (God’s) art.

We (our transformations) actually become the tangible product.

Why become a category of one?

The way to become a better person is to not try to become someone else. Just become a better you than you used to be – on your mission to become a category of one.

Singing competitions reveal this with beautiful accuracy. Competitions like The Voice, American Idol, and the X-Factor are not looking for someone to sing a cover-song like the original artist. The judges, the record labels, and the audience (us), really want only one thing – a stunning, unique version of the cover that blows our mind.

A song that we would buy a second copy of because it’s so different (and remarkable) from the original.

Additionally, we trust that a singer who can do this is also a singer who will do it with their own songs.

Art.

Art that inspires because it’s different.

No one wants to hear this

No one wants to do the deep thinking and have the heavy discussions about building or maintaining an infrastructure.

Why?

Because it’s too much work, especially the implementation and change (transformation) part.

So we wait and do nothing – the twin siblings of diseased organizational culture.

Think for a moment about trying to change a culture without the proper infrastructure.

Insight: Creating infrastructure is what working at Disney has polished me to do better than anyone in this space. i know the secret formulas. And what works and doesn’t work in implementing them.

How?

From working inside Disney for 30+ years, including the final 15 years at Disney Institute working with over 2,000 clients (and one-million+ people), including many of the world’s most famous brands.

As success becomes imminent, a new fear is born. The fear of looking arrogant. A confident entrepreneurial startup founder must exude confidence.

Exude.

That’s pretty intense. And to some, intimidating. It reminds people of their decaying dreams.

It’s time to follow the fatherly advice i have consistently shared with our 14-year old.

Why focus on the ones who will say jealous things? And we all know how those behind-someone’s-back conversations go, because we’ve all been jealous, so it’s no secret.

It’s the difficult path that others laugh at.

Not because it’s difficult, but because it’s lonely.

And scary.
