The goodness just would not stop yesterday. Returning to the car to drive home was a wonderful surprise reunion with four Disney Institute colleagues. Got hugs from Radar, Jillian, Mike M, and Jim.
Between the comments from posting the Map My Run app photos on Facebook to jogging from home to Disney and Magic Kingdom selfies, to celebrating the first post Disney keynote speech for a Fortune 150 last week, it was a very good day.
And it was only 2pm.

(photo: Being an early adopter was never a habit… that’s changed in the past five years)
When habits are changed, new life is born.
A big part of being the first to embrace the newest technology is having a technology provider that’s admirable.
Apple is so admirable, they’ve been the “The Most Admired Company in the World” seven consecutive years.
What’s not to trust.
Go.
It’s 2015 (or the first day of Fall)… live like you mean it.

In the absence of a current coach, do not underestimate self coaching.
Wait, self coaching means we have to look a bit egotiscial.
Or, we could quietly beat ourselves up.
Or… we could put positive things in writing.
As a wonderfully humble reminder.
Say from a blog or something.

I’ve known many Disney Cast Members over the years, and I don’t think I know of anyone more genuine, more real, than Jeff Noel. Because of his integrity, he is one of the few people who can afford to be transparent. He simply is who he says he is, and that’s a wonderful thing for all around him. While our paths have moved in separate directions, I consider him a friend, and consider myself blessed for having known him. He is a Disney legacy. He is what Disney should always be about. Congratulations Jeff
We all have a private folder containing nice, written customer compliments and cards, or wonderful notes from coworkers or family, etc.
And no one ever sees it except us.

(photo: the way the world works is changing fast… embrace it… what other choice is there?)
The work team is trying to give something important a more meaningful name. No harm no foul.
But there’s a challenge here.
A new name isn’t the solution to the change they are trying to solve for.
Over time the team has gone from a traditional physical location with offices and cubes to half the old way and half the new virtual work from home way.
The virtual workforce isn’t a different group of people who do different things. They simply sit somewhere different.
The solution is in changing the way they operate.
Virtual is the new normal.
But they are trying to maintain stability by coming up with a clever name for the ‘distance’ team. Trying (innocently and ignorantly) to bypass the reality of a sea change.
It’s similar to the revelation of Baby Boomers calling the fast pace of change, technology.
Watching a 13 year old grow up, the revelation is that he doesn’t think of it as technology and never has. To him, it just ‘is’.
Time to start thinking the same way about teams.
