Leadership is seeing the future before anyone else

Leaders see the future before anyone else.

And the best followers are early adopters.

Risk-takers, both of them.

And without both, our lives would not progress with the breakthroughs.

We need one person to identify and the other person to embrace.

Great leadership assumes great risks (video)

Great leadership assumes great risks (video).

His girlfriend is terrified.

His mom surrenders to him wanting to follow his passion.

His videographer is also terrified – what if his friend falls to his death and he captures it on video?

Take risks?

It’s a matter of survival.

And then’s the difference between life and death.

Sometimes it’s hard to tell one from the other.

And there’s this other little thing.

Can you live physically, but emotionally you’re dead?

This is why risks are scary.

And why playing it safe is also frightening.

Good luck today.

You know what’s overwhelming?

Lake McDonald Lodge lobby
Lake McDonald Lodge from last week. Heading back out in eight days.

Chapin listened to the first six Seth Godin’s podcasts, from Akimbo, the past two days.

Three each day.

i didn’t ask him to take notes and review them with me.

He initiated.

The power in teaching a message is exponential to just listening to the message.

It is cool to watch him learn as he teaches me what he learned.

Being a solo entrepreneur means you do literally everything.

It can be overwhelming.

Hold on.

It is overwhelming.

You know what else is overwhelming?

Wondering, but never knowing, if you could have architected a better quality of life.

You know, becoming the captain of your own ship.

Becoming an entrepreneur.

What we really want is change, right?

Disney trucks
Three Disney trucks, all with animated digital side panels.

When you are talking with a client, ask:

  • What change are you seeking?
  • Who will change?
  • Why will they change?
  • How soon will they change?
  • How does the keynote speech ensure the change you seek?

Remind your potential client the reason they’re wanting a live presentation and not a memo or meeting is that your closeness, your energy, your karma, and your humanity are catalysts.

Sparks if you will.

Fire starters.

Risk taking must become second nature

Courage, tenacity, sacrifice, passion, purpose.

Risk taking must become second nature.

There is no other way to push boundaries.

Remember, it’s only impossible until you do it the first time.
