Five trips to Glacier National Park this Summer.

The first and last trips are at risk of happening when services aren’t open yet or after they have closed for the season.

Every leader’s three-legged stool must focus on Cast, Guest, Business in a balanced way.

The other three-legged stool is managerial, technical, and behavioral.

Manage your resources of time, talent, and money.

Become technically proficient in every aspect of your professional role.

Intentionally demonstrate great leadership behaviors – everything speaks.

Yesterday i focused on managing the details of time.

Leadership and Guestology

Being out in front, questioning, asking, telling, wondering, trying, failing, starting over, relentlessly striving, pushing, pulling, challenging, never satisfied.

These are all attributes of the heretical leader we all need, and hate, most.

Dear Executive, i expect you’ll take the next 10 days to be an investment or an expense. i need a decision by April 30.

Note: Yesterday’s email request for a decision gives us 10 days to finally agree on details and commit or walk away. We’ve been talking about this for nearly a year.

PS. If customer data is called demographics, the other opportunity leaders have is Guestology, which is the study of customer psychographics.

Needs, wants, stereotypes, emotions.

Most businesses only focus on needs.

Would have been more impressive had he worn his t-shirt

So is Mark Zuckerberg’s message, “Only dress up when you’re in the hot seat?”

Would have been more impressive (to me) had he worn his signature t-shirt.

That’s his brand statement.

Why deviate?

Sure, there’s a time and a place for everything.

Yet there’s literally an exception to every rule.

Why is going first so challenging?

We had some small talk, but that was it.

Why is going first so challenging?

i believe there is a trail leading back to a person’s early adult life.

And at the early stages, we develop our habits for being organized.

One habit is procrastination.

Procrastination leads to overwhelm which leads to fear and doubt, which leads to more procrastination.

Too much fear and doubt lead to self-destruction, victim-mentality, and negativity.

Great Disney leaders are active and visible

Hey, suggestion…read the post first and then watch this 20-minute video. Of course, 20 minutes is a luxury and probably impossible for you at this moment).

Ps. It may be one of the most important videos you watch this year. It certainly is for me. And if you are wondering why, click here.

Great Disney leaders are active and visible.

Why?

Because the only time a leader comes around is when                        .

Fill in the blank.

When there’s something wrong.

You get the picture.

When people see you frequently (and consistently) they start to let their guard down – because conversations go past work and naturally lead to personal – we don’t care how much a person knows until we know how much a person cares.

Not until your team is comfortable with you being around, will they start telling you the truth about what’s going on.

Until then, you’re being handled.

Good luck changing your habits.

It’s only impossible until you figure out what to let go of.
