No time for lunch in the past 30 years?

No.

Not in the past 30 years did Cheryl and i have lunch together. Countless dinners at Disney, but never lunch. Why? The pace is fast at Disney. Outsiders have no idea.

We also did not have lunch together a few days ago after the first paying, post Disney speaking gig.

Made an honest attempt. But with Cheryl being out sick all week, it made a really good argument for staying in the office.

In hindsight, i could have brought lunch into her office.

Live and learn.

Cultural transformation bootcamp for semi-desperate companies

Disney Management Keynote Speaker

(photo: Old Mid Life Celebration post. The quote referenced personal responsibility, but easily adapts to every CEO’s responsibility to demonstrate that culture is their number one priority.)

Cultural transformation bootcamp for semi-desperate companies.

Wouldn’t it be great if there was such a thing?

There is: How about Disney Management expert and retired Disney Institute Leadership speaker  jeff noel?

He retired early after 30 incredible years at Disney to give speeches to change the world. He’s still doing the same things he did at Disney Institute, but now you can hire him directly.

When the rubber meets the road

Motivational Speakers Orlando

Big events don’t fall from the sky. Massive effort is required. Trust, accessibility, values, and vision. They all work together for the greater good.

Couple calls and meetings (in this order as the day unfolded):

  1. Pitched crazy idea to Middle School teacher to enlist her student’s help, teach them, and fund raise.
  2. Recruiting consultants for work beyond MLC’s catalytic keynote speeches.
  3. Requested permission to use large, not-for-profit venue.
  4. Put out feelers for a go-to meeting planner.

Today will be more of the same.

PS. Here’s a real time (Mar 27) update to the above post written Dec 17: None of the four “great ideas” panned out. Paying engagements were contracted that made numbers 1 & 3 dramatically less pressing. Discovered that i do not wish to partner with anyone else on content creation (as of now). And #4 is premature – a great resource is available when and if the time becomes right.

Life is not fair

Orlando Disney Customer Service Speakers

(photo: MBA student’s daily homework.)

A graduating MBA student asked for advice because she is encountering one dead end after another.

But she’s smart because she realizes there are many other candidates with MBA’s.

An MBA doesn’t open the door for someone to come waltzing in.

Not fair is it?

Another option is to actually start your own business and administer it. A self-made MBA.

Nothing like the real thing to put things in perspective.

And yes, life is not fair.

The amount of work it takes to get picked is unfair.

Get used to it.

Because if you want something as badly as you want your next breathe, now is your time.
