Market like you mean it

Marketing
Yesterday at breakfast after Mass. Creative. Fun. Different. Will it do what the Marketing boss wanted it to accomplish?

Market like you mean it.

Sounds good on paper.

Lots of stereotypes with Marketing – some great, some bad.

No one likes pushy, salesy people or unwanted messages (spam).

Word of mouth is still the holy grail.

Great article with 40 creative marketing notions.

The holy grail is what i seek.

Disney Keynote Speaker Google description from LinkedIn

Magic Kingdom fireworks
Crossing a busy intersection as we biked home from dinner, we watched the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the sidewalk.

LinkedIn recommendation from Disney Institute colleague Paul Grossman:

I have had the distinct pleasure of working with Jeff and am compelled to write briefly about him. I was fortunate enough to frequently “share a stage” with Jeff when I was at the Disney Institute. Jeff possesses a ferocious mix: comprehensive knowledge of his content, passion to share it, ability to do it successfully, and raw talent. Each speech, class, event or workshop he conducts, his goal is nothing short of a standing ovation, which I have seen him receive with amazing regularity. When it comes to conveying a compelling, important message that can have real impact on an organization, Jeff in particular and my other former colleagues at the Disney Institute are, quite simply, among the best in the world.

So, to shorten this for Google, how about:

Jeff possesses a ferocious mix: comprehensive knowledge of his content, passion to share it, ability to do it successfully, and raw talent.

Making a great first impression in your organization

Jody’s episode is worth a listen from start to finish. However, if you’re pressed for time, listening to just my 6-minute piece about Disney University and Disney’s Train-the-Trainer class is a decent compromise.

PS. Listening to his first 6.5-minute piece makes my piece even more relevant.

PSS. Jody and i used Skype to record. We’ll be using RINGR in the future.

And finally, next time, i’ll skip the intro story (meeting Brian at DU) and get straight to the content.

Storytelling tips

Five storytelling tips here.

Everything speaks is a phrase we teach at Disney Institute, although we didn’t coin it.

For example: “Small details that are often ‘undermanaged’ or ignored ‘chip away’ at the customer experience.”

Trust is the most important leadership attribute

Trust is the biggest challenge leaders face.

And without trust, commitment and passion rot on the vine.

While the video above isn’t about leadership, it could be – use it to illustrate “the drastic measure” a leader needs to do to signal a line in the sand, a seed of transformational change.
