Before one of us starts to forget, work

Before one of us starts forgetting, i’d like to start remembering…

  • Our first wondering about ‘what if’.
  • Our first Disney ‘role in the show’.
  • Our first year at Walt Disney World (WDW).
  • Our first decade at Walt Disney World (WDW).
  • Our second decade at Walt Disney World (WDW).
  • Our third decade at Walt Disney World (WDW).
  • Our first year of retirement.
  • Our first year of my personal business.
  • Our first sale of 401k retirement IRA stock.
  • Our first use of our lifetime Disney annual passes.
  • Our son’s first Disney role in the show.
  • Our first realization we have enough to live on without working.
  • Our first travel trips brainstorm session.
  • Our first hope.
  • Our first kiss.

Wisdom basics, work

Insight: In your career, make your get-to-do more than your have-to-do.

Even if it’s only a 51% to 49% ratio.

Your 51% has controlling interest.

The analogy is two business partners with a 50-50 share. If they disagree, the business stalls because no one has controlling interest. No one can make the final call. This tension can last a lifetime.

Work that you get to do never feels like work.

Why?

Because you get to do it.

Work that you have to do always feels like work.

Why?

Because if you had a choice, you wouldn’t do it.

Now, closer to 70 than to 60, my get-to-do is 99%.
