Dare not dare at work

Balancing Work and play
What is balance and why do so few claim to have it?

Dare not dare at work.

Daring doesn’t mean bungee-jumping or doing something that would make the final cut of a Jackass Movie.

Daring is actually quite simple.

And due to it’s simplicity daring often gets overlooked and neglected (forever).

What if you took an hour at lunch and did something completely for yourself, for example?

On work days we think we should be focused on work the whole day through, including lunch.

Dare to take back your lunch time.

Today.

Go.

But the way we’ve always done it is a formidable foe

Funny irony
Oh the irony

The thing that motivates is the thing that also rubs others the wrong way.

Vibrancy.

Anyone ingrained in the command and control world of traditional organizational hierarchy will only ever be able to pay lip service to the concept of (organizational) vibrancy.

Organizational vibrancy is the new corporate buzz phrase.

It’s entertaining, a bit comical and sad, and it is also a great vision.

But the way we’ve always done it is a formidable foe.

Unlikely to be defeated.

Direct and in-your-face leadership insights from a woman in charge

Small business entrepreneurs use their vehicles to promote
Small and large businesses use their vehicles to market their products

Direct and in-your-face leadership insights from a woman in charge:

  • It’s better to have a hole in your team than to have an a$$ hole on your team

Professionally dressed. Professional demeanor. Polite. Cordial.

When we wait for somebody else to change nothing changes.

creative lab values
I am Disney‘ is a mantra some can say with conviction and from experience (Ideas only Disney can do)

Nothing will change until:

  • leadership approves
  • HR approves
  • finance approves

Sound familiar?

When we wait for somebody else to change nothing changes.

Find an ethical way to do remarkable, amazing things at work that require zero approval, even if they are so small no one on your team notices.

Why?

Because your customers will notice, and they deserve remarkable and shouldn’t have to wait for it.

The exception is when you are a start-up and you are building and haven’t yet officially opened your doors.

And if you are the owner of the startup, as you build, be focused on blowing the roof off traditional expectations.

Leadership in the 21st Century is about surviving the political process

Professional speaker
It may sound boastful, but confidence is necessary to be remarkable

Leadership in the 21st Century is about surviving the political process.

Similar to war, it’s survival of the fittest. It’s also a competiton between the most motivated.

Been like this since prehistoric times.

Fast forward to Spring 2014.

The job of the instructor in the classroom is to create something that is transformational. Something that is irresistible and remarkable.  Something people want more of…

And something they’ll pay whatever it costs to get it done.
