It’s probably one or the other for all of as we travel through life

It’s one or the other for us as we travel through life attempting something incredibly lofty:

  • our efforts will change our life
  • our efforts were the biggest waste of our time

Faith, reason, and hard work are never a 100% guarantee.

There are only two regrets in life:

  1. We didn’t try hard enough and failed
  2. We tried too hard and wasted our resources

Life is hard.

And full of uncertainty.

Be intentional which ever way we choose. No?

Dear Son, who decides who the luckiest person alive is?

Disney World sweatshirt
What if someone was a teacher and their classroom was Walt Disney World Resort?

Who decides who the luckiest person alive is?

Using what criteria?

Can we make it up ourselves?

Don’t judge yourself against others.

Neither of you is traveling the same path.

Learn to be blissful on your path or find a different path.

And a different path may be the same path, but with someone, or going in the opposite direction.

Yeah, life is full of distractions and illusions.

Believing in something as if your life depended on it is the most powerful position

Scene from God's not Dead
It will always be easier (initially) to back down – this decision could haunt us for a lifetime.

Dear Son, believing in something as if your life depended on it is the most powerful position from which to do your art.

The insidious danger is our motive isn’t pure.

But if it is, nothing can stop you.

The job of a great leader?

Philosophy quote
It matters little to walk to do the preaching if not our walking, is the preaching.

How important is creativity in leading others well? And what exactly does doing it well mean?

First, there is nothing more important to a leader than doing it well. That’s our job.

Second, the measure of success is in inspiring others to want to do the work that’s necessary.

And to have them driven, determined, grateful, and humbled to feel the privilege to do the work.

And to create more leaders. That’s the job of a great leader.

Most leaders (and parents) struggle to be authentic enough to inspire

World Showcase Japan outdoor dining
Teens (right w/chopsticks) and people in general are starving for great leadership

Parent to child is like leader to direct report.

At it’s best it is honesty and trust – with no exceptions.

It is in being willing to fight (to the ‘death’, if necessary) for this relationship – at any cost.

It is fearlessly taking the lead.

Why?

To teach.

Why?

To grow more leaders.

Better leaders.

Even better than ourselves.

That’s what helped us, right?

How would we not spend our lives repaying the debt of gratitude?
