Today is the eve of the bravest day in a long career

Never crossed the line once.

Working remotely for the past three years, and traveling four or five weeks out of six, on average, has made working in a traditional office setting obsolete.

For the past six years, every spare moment has been spent building the infrastructure and platform to be able to launch Mid Life Celebration, LLC as a full time business.

Working anywhere. Anytime.

Overhead is minimal.

Impact is unlimited.

It starts tomorrow, officially.

No more holding back and keeping it a solemn secret to everyone in the audience.

Inspiring Facebook update

Do you follow someone with a title or someone with courage?

The weirdest thing yesterday was removing the Disney Institute engagements from the Apple personal calendar for November, December and January.

Weirder still is entering new engagements in their place for Mid Life Celebration.

Holy cow this is amazing.

Nervous

A half-hour has been blocked at 3:30pm today to gather for jungle jeff’s ‘Disney years of service’ award. Thirty years at Disney used to be rare back in the day. Most of the people receiving that milestone were hired as part of the opening team in 1971 or hired shortly thereafter.

You felt privileged to be in attendance at their special recognition.

Nowadays, 30 years isn’t such a big deal.

Unless it’s you.

Then it’s pretty surreal.

While 30 years at Disney isn’t rare, 30 years with a single organization in 2014 is.

The nervous part?

Hard to explain.

Her boss wants her to write a bunch of examples showcasing how great her performance was for the past year.

She really doesn’t want to do it because:

  • It will not influence her pay
  • No one will ever read it after the annual work review is completed
  • Shouldn’t her boss already know how amazing she is?

A once a year performance appraisal is perhaps one of the biggest crocks in the western hemisphere.

When a teen violates a curfew, the parent doesn’t wait until the end of the year to go over it.

Parents are very busy people, just like bosses.

Figure it out people. Figure it out.
