Leadership progress is made slowly and surely

Leadership progress is made slowly and surely. In between all the photos of our life living next to Walt Disney World is the reality that life is challenging for every Family, no exceptions. Being a parent is the greatest leadership responsibility we will ever have. It’s one that tests every fiber in my body. And i love rising to the occasion every time.

Three thrilled clients and a list of other things

Disney Rest Room
Disney Epcot Restroom. My client didn’t know why mirrors aren’t placed above sinks.

Three thrilled clients and a list of other things.

Looking back, yesterday was super productive (as are all days). Of course, the usual two hours of writing, reading, praying, and thinking before sunrise. Then a walking meeting with a potential client at 7:20am – around Epcot.

Then home for three client calls. One with a potential marketing partner, another with an existing client to review progress, and then a call with a potential 2016 client.

In between, daily admin stuff, and review of Thursday’s speech for the umpteenth time. Like an Olympic athlete visualizing their event.

Are titles unimportant in leadership?

The Good Dinosaur ad
The Good Dinosaur ad in Disney’s Hollywood Studios parking lot yesterday.

One executive was talking with another, and it went like this, “I don’t believe in titles”.

i couldn’t help but wonder if the executive who said they don’t believe in titles would answer this question the same way.

Do you believe in responsibility?

“No, i don’t believe in responsibility”

Titles and responsibility are one and the same.

Everyone has a title:

CEO of You, Inc.

The world is full of emotions, which serve as leadership examples

High School Theater
High School Theater the other night.

In just 24 hours, we can see the unflattering reality of human behavior as well as the glorious example of what a human can do when they set their mind on goodwill.

The High School Theater performances included several international students who, until four months ago, didn’t speak english.

Stunning.

Both examples are stunning.

Both are choices made by the same species, humans.

The paradox of joy versus sorrow.

Brand, in layman’s terms, is your reputation

Brand, in layman’s terms, is your reputation.

Brand loyalty is the sum of everything you do and say.

It is also the sum of what you don’t do and don’t say.

My personal brand emulates two companies.

  1. Disney, where i spent a lifetime honing my platform, from Disney’s Chief of Staff to Disney’s Cleaning Staff.
  2. Apple, the company that builds the tools i need to change the world and help others to do the same.

There are individuals (not companies) that i also emulate: Jesus, Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa, Gandhi. Assuming you know that Walt and Steve are on this list too.
