We’ve struck a verbal agreement for the next 120 days

No written agreement, just a verbal promise to help someone learn about personal responsibility in a balanced way. Toughest workout of the Summer Season.

 

The day began early at the High School track and it was by far the toughest workout this summer. Not many teens, nor adults, begin their day with strenuous physical activity. Not many business owners pay contractors in advance.

We’ve struck a verbal agreement for the next 120 days. A pre-paid monthly salary and then transition to a traditional post-work pay structure.

Paying in advance happens, but it’s rare.

Scarcity usually makes something more valuable.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Lesson learned (the hard way).

No longer going to pay people in advance. It’s been my experience during the past 18 months that humans, in general, do not have the self-discipline to stay hungry after they’ve been fed.

Zero regrets.

In fact, i celebrate discovering what i hoped i wouldn’t discover.

i actually had faith being fed in advance would inspire a deeper hunger.

My experience shows it only happens as an anomaly.

There’s a reason why i do not have an email subscription signup. Most people are buried by their email’s in-box. i do not write to build an email subscription list. Most gurus insist an email list is your bread and butter.

Only a few hours away from hitting 72-hours without a response from an important business professional.

Rather than be frustrated for the delay, i use my energy to pray that they are okay and that some difficult, and perhaps overwhelming, business challenge isn’t consuming their soul.

Does that sound like a goody two-shoes?
