Enjoy the process

Family Christmas
Life is a blur. We enjoyed the parts of Christmas Day yesterday that were not in focus.

Enjoy the process.

What?

Enjoy the process of dreaming, trying, struggling, progress, setbacks, victories, frustrations.

Why?

Becoming a better CEO of You, Inc is a process.

A lifelong, neverending process.

Enjoy it.

All of it.

Every day.

All day.

“Thought of you today” was the email “subject”

CEO emails me last night:

“I saw a documentary today called “won’t you be may neighbor “
It was awesome. I recommend it”

Margy Whitmer, the film’s producer, in the early description in the trailer, says…

“You take all the elements that make up good television and do the exact opposite, you have Mister Rodgers Neighborhood. Low production values, simple set, an unlikely star. Yet, it worked.”

Wow.

So i asked why…

He said:

I saw in the documentary you. I think you strive to make the world a better place in everything you do. Your not perfect but an inspiration

Upon reading his answer, it occured to me, “i did not know this.”

Fix this, yesterday

wisdom
You find answers in direct proportion to where you look.

What one person embodies your organization’s DNA and purpose above all others?

What are you afraid of letting go of and why are you afraid?

If your most impassioned advocate isn’t in charge of culture, ask yourself, “Why the heck not?”

Fix this.

Yesterday.

Bob Iger’s contract expires in one year

Daytona Beach Hard Rock Hotel
The World’s Most Famous Beach is it’s claim to fame.

The Disney culture, and maintaining it, is my number one priority.  – Michael Eisner (1984)

Bob Iger’s contract expires in one year – July 7, 2019.

Bob took over for Michael Eisner in 2005.

Michael ran Disney for 21 years, from 1984 – 2005.

i was there for all of it, and then some – finally retiring on Halloween (pretty scary) 2014.

In fact, Michael, my wife Cheryl, and i were all hired on the same day as permanent Cast Members.

Also, i spent eight months as a (full-time) seasonal Cast Member in 1982.

Bob has graciously extended his CEO contract several times since July 2015.

We have yet to identify the next Disney CEO.

Fingers crossed for some incredible Magic between now and July 7, 2019.

You don’t have this luxury and you never should

Disney Institute Leadership Speaker
We either are or we aren’t.

Lead like you mean it.

At work.

At home.

Every day.

All day.

You are the CEO of You, Inc.

As owner, you don’t get the luxury of thinking, “That’s someone else’s job.”
