On the cover of The Rolling Stone…

Mid Life Celebration book and author
One final photo yesterday morning before coming down the mountain until next year.

Took ten copies to share, although most have already read it.

It was surprisingly comforting to remind myself that the 1979 (when we were college juniors) promise to write a book has been fulfilled.

Plagued by our own potential

2015 West Chester University friends reunion
The final brother and his wife arrived last night (Friday July 31).

It took ten minutes to move from parking lot to cabin.

The joy of reuniting is different for each of us.

Some haven’t seen each other in 20 years, or more.

In a way, it’s almost like we haven’t been apart.

The conversation is still lively.

Some played cards after dinner.

Plagued by our own potential.

If we could slay our fear and doubt, we’d literally astonish ourselves.

This applies to work, of course.

And it also applies to something we no longer think about…our health.

For the past 48 hours, being with my ‘”brothers”, i can’t help but feel compelled to think about how we will age, if given the privilege, for the next 10, 20, or 30+ years.

Planting epiphany seeds

Parking at mountain cabin
Only one of 20 flew to reunion.

My keynote speaking and business advising company – featuring The Disney Way – is held up by four pillars:

  1. Simplicity
  2. Excellence
  3. Scalability
  4. Legacy

But it wasn’t until a minute ago that the pillars revealed themselves.

And it was last night’s dinner conversation that planted the seed for this morning’s epiphany.

Note: Two of my “brothers” are executives who have hired consultants. Their results are nothing they are ecstatic about.

Speaker Hall of Fame

Hiking trail
Led from the back of the pack yesterday.

From an email yesterday.

To be in the Speaker Hall of Fame, each candidate must excel in seven categories: material, style, experience, delivery, image, professionalism and communication.

There are only about 150 speakers who have ever been inducted into the NSA Speaker Hall of Fame.

Can’t help but wonder, if only for a moment, how i’d stack up.

Great Disney leaders are never satisfied

Mobile apps
It’s easy to read on a mobile device.

You know that feeling when you discover (what you thought was) your best work really isn’t?

Have a handful of potential clients that are at various stages of engagement. As i re-read the jeffnoel.com landing pages, something happened yesterday.

i became disenchanted.

While it is decently written and flows logically, it’s too long.

The reality is executives need clear, concise, and compelling.

Back to the drawing board.
