Perfect writing

Magic Kingdom
Didn’t come here to write. Now that i’m here, can’t help myself. Perfect.

What is perfect writing?

It’s whatever you decide.

Scale teaching love

(Please) get the dang books written, bruh.

Scale teaching love.

Another thing i think about quitting is working.

If business fell in my lap, could do it for the rest of my life.

Historically, the pre-contract work (getting to the contract) feels like work; like a have-to-do.

Get-to-do ratio needs to hover around 95-98%.

Sure it’s lofty.

That’s the Disney Way.

Set and achieve no small goal.

Retiring from work makes sense

Perhaps it’s time to let the water run downstream, never to be seen again.

Retiring from work makes sense.

Spend decades earning a living and eventually retire to “enjoy life” before the final curtain closes. Makes perfect sense.

What about retiring from writing?

What daily writing needs at work

book page screen shot
Jody Maberry, producer of If Disney Ran Your Life Podcast, and i have hiked in Glacier National Park’s backcountry each Summer since 2018. He said the quote reminded him of me. (we talk a lot on the trail – and of course, he sees my depth and breadth of .thinking .differently)

What does daily writing need at work?

Daily writing needs your very best every day, all day. Even when you aren’t writing, you are still thinking about how to improve. Daily writing requires you to think and act like an artist. You write to become a category of one. You write to help people in simple yet extraordinary ways. You write first and foremost to yourself.

So they reply and then…

Imagine getting this response from me…

What do you want from me?

Let’s review:

So far, in two emails (or texts):

  1. Didn’t expect to see you. What brings you here?
  2. What do you want from me?

i like where this is going.

Why?

Because, didn’t see it coming.

Surprising myself.

Feels good.
