Enter the Web Log

Wow, what a blast from the past, maybe 2005. Our front yard.

The term Blog is the iteration that came from Web Log.

i know this because my first (while at Disney Institute) folder about this new thing, social media, was labeled Web Log.

Simple idea. Wanna write a book, then practice writing. Get in writing-shape.

Wanna run a half-marathon, practice running. Get in running-shape.

Blogging was the perfect training facility to get in writing-shape.

Blogging was a miserable activity for a year or so. Couldn’t get the hang of the muscle memory. In reality, i simply wasn’t practicing enough.

On April Fools day, 2009 i fixed this.

To this day (we are in 2021), i haven’t missed a single day writing five differently-themed blog posts.

Practice, practice, practice, practice.

Now play.

Basically, formulaic. Also, accurate.

Here we are four posts into today’s thread and you (me) haven’t written a darn thing that resembles a “Welcome and thank you for subscribing” email.

Why not?

Taking a break isn’t quitting, it’s simply a break.

The only reason taking a break makes us nervous is because an intended short break looks exactly like the early start to quitting.

Too tired to finish

Too tired to finish?

Almost asleep at the keyboard as today got away from me.

If it weren’t for the fact that i’m four days from completing 11 consecutive years writing five daily, differently-themed blog posts, it would be so easy to say, “It’s not worth it. Today’s posts can wait until tomorrow.”

Never said it. Perhaps never will.

It was not supposed to last

See my comment? Note: i occasionally ask myself, “Why do you continue to write 5-a-day?” The answer is always, “Because i can’t imagine life without daily writing.”

October 25, 2019, today.

Some thoughts generated from the photo above.

10 years, seven months

5 daily, differently-themed blog posts

mind, body, spirit, work, home

Never missing a single day

It was to last 100 days

Needed writing practice for my first book

How it morphed to 3,860+ days (and counting) is a mystery
