Your career can be summarized this way…
Pick one, a pencil or a broom.
You will either work using your brain or your body.
Additionally, you need to pick owner or employee.
You will either work for yourself or for someone else.
There is no perfect answer.
But you are, in fact, going to have to (or get to) live with whatever you decide.

The world is full of critics.
i used to be one.
No longer.
Most critics have no idea how things actually get done.
i didn’t.
i thought things got done well, or poorly, based on someone’s ability to practice sound theory.
Theory is for amateurs.
The dreams, the struggles, the setbacks, the compromises, the weaknesses, the defeats, the perseverance, the joy, the creativity, and ultimately if you stay self-employed long enough and discard theory, the triumph.

Much of the allure of great thinkers (say, Steve Jobs) is the spin the marketing and public relations people put on what the public gets to consume.
Yes, we know these people are or were ridiculously driven, yet we selectively push that aside because driven people are often exceptionally difficult to be around.
This my friends, is one of the proverbial crosses a visionary entrepreneur must carry.
It’s also the reason why so many people fall in love with the “text book theory” narrative.
Theory is so inspiring, especially from a distance.
In real life, inspiring, aspirational theory can eat you alive.
i love knowing this first hand.
