Aim to be the best in your category or to become the category?
The safe bet would be to aim for category dominance.
The risky bet would be to create the category.
A category of one…

If we let it, our job is a great place to hide.
Meetings, lists, projects.
Managerial stuff.
Makes us too busy for our art.
The work that matters. The work we leave undone.
(pause and think about that, then read on)
Hire someone great at managing things needing managed.
Become reacquainted with your highest form of contribution.
That’s your art.
Transform yourself into the artist you were born to be.
Better late than never.
The hurdle is this: completing the first step, which is recognizing in yourself what you were made to be.

Dennis said he delivered 95 speeches last year. Assuming a minimum of two weeks vacation, that’s two speeches every week.
A significant amount of travel is required to accomplish this level of success.
i do not want to achieve the type of success that requires that much travel.
Sure, the money adds up, but at what cost?
Obviously for the right person, to have a job you love that allows for paid travel, that could be a dream come true.
