Disney Keynote Speakers — So yeah, in this photo, i’m thinking this may be my last view of Logan Pass. And i’m aware there could be many more, but i am living as if 2018 is my last Summer there.

Things in your life will either be better than you expect or less than you expect.

We do not have a crystal ball to tell us exactly how the future will unfold.

This is called a blinding flash of the obvious.

But this little gem, below, isn’t obvious (even though it is)…

When “bad things” happen, rejoice that good things also happen – and in ways that are much better than we could have imagined.

Focus on this yin and yang.

Both extremes teach us.

Be a great and grateful student.

Why?

Because if you aren’t, think deeply about what you get as the opposite.

This used to be me. Phone in hand in busy rush hour traffic. Texting and driving. Photo: Less than 24 hours ago at a 30-lane intersection near Interstate 4 and Universal Studios. Also two blocks from my gym. There is a car seat in back too, but it was empty.

Training versus development

Weather vane — We talked for an hour about true North.

Training versus development.

Train for compliance.

Develop for commitment.

Compliance shouldn’t be taken in a negative context here. Compliance is when employees (and children) and doing exactly what they should be doing, exactly when it should be.

Commitment, however, is doing more than you are paid (or as children, expected) to do and to do it willingly, and to do it all the time.

Last night, i let the 10-grader lead the adult conversation and drive us to a resolution.

While his initiative was not good (perhaps from a trained parent-child relationship), his execution was stellar.

A huge step in development.

Why was faith, hope, and love our go-to when we were younger?

i have no idea how to act when the only visible things that seems to be working decently are your lungs and your mind.

Would i be able to remain a pillar of faith, hope, and love when everything around me is crumbling?

At 57, i am incredibly inexperienced compared to 90.

i told him that.

All i can think about is that faith, hope, and love are the very things we need when the end is near.

Having spent many days and nights living in the Senior Housing Facility and visiting the adjoining 24-hour Nursing Home, i’m seriously confused by what i observe and have observed for many years.

And i wonder if Faith, Hope, and Love – our everything when we are younger – turn out to be fair-weather companions as we age.
