Progress is energizing and exhausting

Aspiring High School Novelist
Yesterday. He wrote. i got three months of taxes done which means i’m all caught up for the year.

Progress is energizing and exhausting.

Our Son (16) is a day or two away from finishing his first book.

He plans to be a Novelist.

The entire week of Spring Break he’s been writing like he means it.

And often in the past seven days, it’s been tough to find inspiration.

But he persevered.

Which is exhausting.

And energizing.

Paradox is a wonderful gift in everyone’s life.

Up it

Disney's The Mail Pilot
Yesterday we sat next to the movie poster for this 1933 Walt Disney 7-minute cartoon short.

Up the enthusiasm factor.

It’s contagious.

Imagine progress, especially changing old organizational habits, without abundant and constant enthusiasm.

Now imagine same scenario, but with overflowing enthusiasm.

Motivation is what keeps everything alive and well, when the temptations from the daily grind kick in.

Stop putting pressure on yourself to do too much too soon

Gloria Steinem quote about truth
Truth, it hurts and it liberates.

Stop putting pressure on yourself to do too much too soon.

Sure, you promised junglejeff.com goes live tomorrow, July 4th. And this is the third deadline you have created: June 8 your birthday, and June 25 your anniversary have come and gone. Now, July 4th.

Why?

Because you didn’t feel it represented your best foot forward. It is, after all, a Disney Keynote Speaker website.

We all struggle with feeling confident enough to launch without perfection.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

The slowest in promising

The slowest in promising, are the most faithful in delivering.

Do not fear going slow, fear standing still.

Note: Tack on 500 additional posts that have gone live since this post was written 100 days ago…12,140 posts posted…plus another 500 written and scheduled to post for the next 100 days…12,640 posts written. Humbled by the magnitude of “one foot in front of the other.
