Two or too different?

family by mountain pass sign
Early evening hike start. Someone offered to take our photo. i usually decline all offers. Such a stock photo.

Same sign, same people, different photographer. Change what you see and what you see changes.

Things take longer and are harder than we believe at every important journey’s beginning.

You hand over your camera and they take the photo they think you want.

Then you get your camera back and take the photo you really want.

Two different photos entirely.

Too different?

One way ticket

Mountains
Continental Divide is unassuming. The foreground stalks are expired Beargrass.

Covid in 2020 added a new dimension to visiting Glacier.

The dimension has morphed into a yearly habit.

Since Summer 2020, i only book a one-way ticket.

This is the fourth Summer doing this.

2023 will be fifth consecutive Summer staying 50 or more days.

One Summer, i made five trips. Other Summers generally two or three trips. The Covid Summer was one 50-consecutive days trip; it was intended to be a simple (and quick) two-week solo trip.

Not a creature was stirring

10-second video: Not an animal, nor human, in sight. Everything in this video is so massive that it’s challenging to appreciate the magnificence of the Continental Divide’s Eastern view.

Today’s posts are inspired by a cluster of videos on the Mac desktop screen. Before clearing the desktop images, decided to use them today.

Guess who biked across Washington State?

Woman bicycling in the mountains
Crossing the Cascade Mountains is similar to crossing the Continental Divide. (Hi Cheryl.)

Can you imagine biking 32 miles round trip, with a 3,300’ elevation gain? And did i mention doing it again as you creep into your mid-60’s?

Can you imagine biking across Washington State with only $200 cash? And on a honeymoon?
