Seeing what no one else sees and seeing more of it

There are countless distractions in a Cruise ship port, all of them intended to get you to impulse buy.

Walking past a bicycle like thousands do every day.

Walking past what everyone walks past but seeing something no one else sees.

And not only seeing what no one else sees, but seeing more of it than no one else sees.

Yesterday when we hid Janice’s birthday cake in the Senior Living Facility communal kitchen and my first thought was, “Look at all this table space. This would be a perfect place to lay out all seven story boards and get started.”

Disney really honed my thinking. i wasn’t thinking about the storyboards, but in seeing the large table space, i immediately remembered the opportunity and possibility.

Can’t turn it off.

It’s a blessing and a curse.

Deeply indebted to my colleagues at Disney Institute. Here are some of them in 2009, in Chicago.

Six days away from launching the next big thing.

Back in the day, the thought of writing a single Disney book felt overwhelming.

But with…

Growth.

Confidence.

Purpose.

Now, the goal is seven Disney books.

Wait until you hear the timeline for this impossible goal.

Pretty scary.

The excitement is building quicker and higher than anticipated

Domain name auction — i’ve been using junglejeff.net for seven years. Getting the .com only required seven years of patience and intentionality.

The excitement to start writing the next book(s) is building quicker and stronger than anticipated.

i have ~~six~~ seven Disney books to write.

And a very ambitious writing schedule.

The good news is i have a foundation built on seven consecutive years of writing two-hours a day (never missing a day).

That’s a serious ~~foundation~~ habit.

The fear that accompanied the first book is a non-issue this go round.

That’s a pretty cool ~~blessing~~ feeling.

Could a person write six books in six months?

As i prepare to begin a major writing initiative in 12 days (launching April Fools Day), i’m shopping for an excellent editor. Had lunch with my first choice yesterday.

i always say:

If your goal isn’t impossible, you’re not reaching high enough.

Could a person write six books in six months?

And could each of these books go viral and become best sellers?

How much work are you willing to do to get there?

Be specific about the tradeoffs.

You know how people say you should never quit your day job? i worked over six years at two-plus hours a day, everyday, without missing a day – on top of my full-time Disney Institute career traveling nearly every week.
