Walking through Disney University (DU) this morning had the chance to chat with a Cast Member in the DU lobby.

She began her 41-year career in 1981 at Magic Kingdom Food and Beverage.

After 21 years in F&B Ops, she’s spent the past two decades in Training Operations, including the past year at DU.

On the walk home, nearing DU, this question came to mind…

The Great Resignation launched from the already brewing side-hustle underground movement.

So many people, myself included, were experimenting with the potential to create a self-employed business model. One big enough to leave their current career path for good.

Why?

For all the reasons for what is common knowledge now – the great resignation.

No one knew what was possible, yet many dreamt of breaking free from what has always felt like a (soul-sucking) trap.

Thank you Covid-19 for disrupting the employer power play.

Disney stripper?

This was big news while flying to Disneyland.

It will remain decent news for awhile.

Florida voted to strip Disney of its special business district – the Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID).

RCID was created to allow Disney to manage the governmental bureaucracy from owning a business straddling Orange and Osceola Counties.

Bottomline, it was a transparent agreement that Walt Disney insisted was necessary to build the Vacation Capital of the World.

The Florida Governor agreed.

Fast forward 57 years.

Will Disney sue?

Meanwhile, we are all wondering if Russia will resort to nuclear warfare.
