Just Say It

“Say what you mean and mean what you say.” — General George S. Patton

Looks good on paper; however, most people are too afraid to say what they mean.

And if they do say what they mean, they don’t say it like they mean it.

Too chicken.

Human nature. Pathetic.

And we complain and wonder why our life isn’t optimized.

Disney’s Jungle Cruise Attraction

Here’s a Disneyland You Tube Jungle Cruise Video, reportedly from 1956.

Fast forward to January 1982. Orlando, Florida. Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park. Straw hat, 100% polyester Disney costume, Disney haircut, Disney smile, ten-minute Disney spiel in hand.

Humor was not the focus in 1956, as it was when I was a Disney Jungle Cruise Skipper, “jungle jeff“, at The Walt Disney World Resort’s Magic Kingdom Park in 1982.

Most Jungle Cruise Skippers added a word, like “jungle” in front of their real name, as part Disney tradition and part Disney show. All these years later, it still means something.  FUN!

The Answers Are Obvious

The answers are obvious to the person who thinks things through, paying particular attention to what’s common sense.

What did you answer from yesterday’s choices?

The correct answer is open the window, let the dog sniff and reward the dog for waking you up.

You get bonus credit if you made an additional choice that wasn’t offered (on purpose), to grab a flashlight and take your dog outside to sniff even more thoroughly.

Why not yell at your dog to shut up and be quiet?  After all, you work hard, you’re exhausted, and you have a big day tomorrow.

It’s the middle of the night, your dog starts barking wildly, what would  you do?  Assume there are no children in the house.

  1. Yell at your dog to shut up
  2. Punish your dog in some way for waking you up
  3. You take your dog to the nearest window, open it and let her sniff
  4. You reward your dog for waking you up
