Note to self, patience (and vision) is a virtue

Note to self, patience (and vision) is a virtue.

In fact, it’s the only way to maintain sanity.

Even driven, determined leaders must exercise patience.

A tree doesn’t grow overnight, but it does grow.

Same with an impossible vision.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Changes in vision, changes in attitude

Beach office
Working this hard comes with the territory.

The main reason people go out on their own is vision. A vision of the future that is better than now. Much better.

With the pressure that only an entrepreneur knows, also comes the joy.

It’s mostly pressure and uncertainty for many years until you become an entity that scales.

Until then, joy is elusive.

Elusive as it may be, it is also remarkably wonderful.

Brevity, simplicity, focus

Brevity, simplicity, focus.

In two and one half days, i’ll be leading a one-hour meeting with five others who have agreed to be part of a small team.

Nervous?

Yes.

Why?

Because this wasn’t part of my original vision.

Preaching brevity, simplicity, and focus is one thing.

Doing it is entirely different.

Chasing and catching a balanced life

jeff noel motivational speaker
Four boxes fit inside a bigger box holding them all together.

Juggling multiple out-of-control things in our life makes balance feel impossible.

The secret with balance is to create a life-architecture that gets you here:

Only having one out of control thing at a time.

Life will always be challenging and overwhelming. It will be dramatically less so when we are intentionally proactive with all five areas of our life: mind, body, spirit, work, home.

Control your controllables and let go of the uncontrollables.

Blinding flash of the obvious: You control your attitude, your health, your spirit, your career, and your home.

How much work?

Book publishing first steps
Flashback to making the commitment to publish my first book. PS. Didn’t use the software above, but it was one of the ones i considered.

How much work are you willing to do to get there?

Be specific about the tradeoffs.

You know how people say you should never quit your day job? i worked over six years at two-plus hours a day, everyday, without missing a day – on top of my full-time Disney Institute career traveling nearly every week.
