Swiftcurrent Valley, day 7, work

quote about habits
The habit of annual Glacier National Park visits, since 2013. That’s how we landed on the future we’re presently living in now.

1973.

1980.

1983.

1993.

2013-2026.

Swiftcurrent Valley, day 6, work

mountains from National Park lodge
A different view and perspective of Swiftcurrent Valley, and Mt Wilbur, from Many Glacier Hotel’s parking lot at sunrise.

Dude, first of all, this photo is from an iPhone, from a parking lot.

Second, we did not have to drive 2 1/2 hours to get here.

Lastly, this is less than a mile walk from our Swiftcurrent Motor Inn room.

Swiftcurrent Valley, day 5, work

mountain lake from hotel balcony
From my room in Many Glacier Hotel, couple years ago. Grinnell Point, left. Mt Wilbur, tallest of the right horizon. Swiftcurrent Mountain, center, low horizon.

Swiftcurrent Motor Inn.

Dead-end road.

Limited parking.

No shuttle system.

An arguably system-imposed low-hiker-attendance feature.

Incredible insider tips like this come from my 53 years (and counting?) of Glacier visits.

Swiftcurrent Valley, day 4, work

14-second video: We watched these two for nearly 30 minutes. Just the five of us and another couple.

No hospitals.

No Urgent Care.

No grocery store.

No roof over your head.

No front door to lock.

No HVAC.

No Netflix.

No musical bands.

Why?

Because it’s the wilderness.

wedding photo
Wedding photo, early 1980’s.

Married, 1983.

Lived in Pullman, Washington, 1982-84.

Visited Glacier National Park the first time, together, late Fall 1982.

Glacier is about a six-hour drive from Pullman (WSU).

Never thought we’d ever go back.

This is important context.

Yes, we loved Glacier.

Never dreamed we’d go back.

Ever.

Try and wrap your head around that.
