Less than a week ago i was nervous about hiking alone. Mostly because the trails aren’t crowded.

 

People ask me if i get nervous before speaking.

Yes.

But not about speaking.

i get nervous about making a difference.

Will what i profess be bright enough to shine on the darkest places in each individuals soul.

Will they be touched in a way they’ve never felt before?

Will they see in a way they’ve never seen before?

Will they think in a way they’ve never thought before?

And finally…

Will they hope in a way they’ve never hoped before?

Excellent Ted Talk parody and…

While this video parody is funny, it’s important to know beyond a shadow of a doubt, great speakers are intentional, and, spontaneous.

However, the shorter the speech, the more intentionality required.

The longer the speech, more room for spontaneity.

The irony is Pat Kelly had to do exactly what he was making fun of – being intentional and methodical.

And by the way, his talk was poignant, except for the standing ovation.

And i like commanding the room.

You don’t need polish to command a room, but you do need command if you want to use ‘unpolished’ to inspire.

Make big, inspired mistakes.

Care more about the karma than the polish.

Why?

Because the audience notices.

Big time.
