Dear Risk,

Thank you for the glory days when i wasn’t afraid of anything. Thank you for quickly teaching me there are certain things i should be glad i’m afraid of, like going through the motions in life.

But now that i’m 57, the glory days could appear to be behind me, or at least for the “typical 57 year old”.

But they’re not behind me, they’re ahead of me.

i’m still afraid. But now i’m afraid of squandering time.

So i don’t.

It’s too risky.

The worker recently said, “I just do what I’m told.”

Safe.

No harm, no foul.

We spend a lot of time working.

Pick your attitude about what you want to accept because you’ll be living with it for (potentially) decades.

Using good judgment and taking initiative are far more important than just doing what you’re told.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

If you want to be an entrepreneur, you can’t be this

i keep telling myself this and it keeps inspiring me to stay the course.

If you want to be an entrepreneur and follow the existing rules, then you’re not an entrepreneur, you’re a copy cat.

The long way is the short cut.

Work hard? But how hard and for how long?

What if it doesn’t work?

Then what?

Pushing the limits is useless as a theory

Pushing the limits is useless as a theory.

Had to reach out to the Speakers Bureau late yesterday (Friday) to get an update.

They are going to bypass my offer and seek a lower priced contract with another speaker. Was only $1,500 away from their highest bid. Would have been easy to accept.

Why not then?

Because pushing the limits is useless as a theory.

Classic nothing ventured, nothing gained.

PS. Also asked for full payment at time of signing – the only way i could justify a reduced rate.
