The beauty in writing and talking about your priorities

Yes, please, at my convenience, and from my phone. (but your limitations won’t allow me to.)

Yes, please. (but instead, it requires about an hour to drive to and from your closest branch to do what the app won’t permit)

The podcast i did two days ago was only the fourth ever, and the first time with someone other than Jody Maberry.

It was also the first, by design, where i didn’t talk specifically about Disney.

What i’m reflecting on right now is how long today’s posts are and how i don’t want to do that here or at the next blog.

Today’s insight?

Writing and talking about what’s important to you really forces you to become clear – and clarity is power.

Disney Keynote Speaker
Your job isn’t to maintain, your job as a leader is to make things better.

  • Add energy to every conversation
  • Ask why
  • Find obsolete things on your task list and remove them

Grinnell Glacier Overlook 2016 with Dave Weir. Hope he can make it back in 2018.

Hoping to return to Glacier National Park – my CEO wants me to make it my top Summer 2018 priority.

He says it’s unofficially my final Summer on our planet.

He’s crazy.

Which is perfect.

Is this the greatest leadership challenge?

Airport overflow parking at sunrise
Yesterday, like the day before that, and again this morning, began the same. Darkness turns to dawn. Dawn turns to sunrise. The sun moves across the sky. Etc.

Letting go of things that don’t matter may be the greatest leadership challenge we ever face.

Things.

That.

Don’t.

Matter.

They pile up and overwhelm us.

Horse, Jockey, Trainer, Owner

Red Tail Hawk in Orlando
Yesterday while running. Chatted and wished this bird of prey the best. Dude is looking into my eyes.

Horse, Jockey, Trainer, Owner.

Which is most important?

Final answer?

Ok.

Take two…

Same question, “Who’s most important?”, but this time it’s race day, say the Kentucky Derby.

Same answer?

Why or why not?

What does this mean to leadership?
