The power of sincere feedback

Turned around last night to grab a photo of where we just finished eating dinner.

This encouraging text message about my new Podcast arrived while we had dinner in Baltimore last night.

The power of sincere feedback. And i quote:

“Your joy is so pervasive in your delivery.”

A positive blind spot.

Didn’t know.

Why?

No one told me before.

It’s a hope that listeners feel it. Yet without validation, all you can do is wonder.

She said, he said, she said

The context here is two-fold…yesterday’s client had a fair amount of initial skepticism about hiring because she never heard of me, i don’t have any speaker videos, and i’m expensive.

Simultaneously, i’m negotiating with a CEO for “Executive Coaching 201” level opportunity.

More on this in a moment.

Both opportunities are nearly identical – expensive and no executive video testimonials that my 201, higher level executive coaching is worth the price –  however, this CEO has not only heard of me, but she renewed her yearly executive coaching contract without hesitation.

The obstacle in front of us is proving solitude is a tangible, powerful, and game-changing CEO tactic.

silence
Silence is golden. Be quiet and make a fortune.

silence
Silence, we never knew you were so significant.

solitude
This is elusive. Not talking about silence (although it’s obviously true) here, i’m referring to the processing of info – uncommon processing of the right information is how breakthroughs generally occur.

She said, “You hit it out of the Park.”

i replied humbly, “Wow.”

She continued, “We need to schedule you for next year.”

What would it take to reach a 201 level?

Disney Keynote Speakers
Solitude is the name of the game here.

If bi-monthly phone calls are executive coaching 101, what would it take to create a coaching 201 level?

The Beatles traveled the world in search of answers.

Fame, riches, and drugs weren’t enough.

Most people, and especially C-Suite executives, are like the Beatles – at the top of their game and on a quest for something even greater.

So there’s this friend i know.

Far away from business suites and quarterly investor calls.

GNP.

Glacier National Park is a friend i met in 1973 as a 14-year old, wide-eyed, star-struck teen.

We’ve become quite close the past 35 years.

This is for the leaders who were too busy to notice

Quote about quotes
Photo: Not 100 days ago, yesterday, June 7, 2016, from LinkedIn.

Photo from yesterday. Post from 100 days ago…

This is for the leaders (including me) who were too busy to notice.

Knowing that my self-imposed deadline for death living is exactly three years from June 8, i will have to balance patience with a termination point.

No easy task.

Living with a deadline creates a profoundly deep sense of self-reflection.

This illuminates the perceived need for cathartic behaviors. Otherwise we are faced with the reality of living dying with regret.

There is no manual for the exact way to proceed.

(And because there is no guide, this is why society, in general, waits and does nothing with their big, bold, humble dreams.)

So i may say and do some things that with more time, might not feel necessary (like this post). But i don’t have the luxury of waiting to find out.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

The executive coach is only charging me a buck per session

orlando inspirational Disney speaker
Yesterday’s first coaching session was at the Nature preserve.

The executive coach is only charging me one dollar per session. He’s pursing an advanced, executive coaching certification. One requirement is to have five paying clients.

We already have an incredibly trusting relationship because we’ve worked together at Disney Institute. We are both out on our own now.

i’m receiving this coaching with the sole motive being to help him.

But we all know that in the giving we receive.

Yesterday’s first session allowed something i was hanging onto to melt away. Just in time for the call with Anitra.
