On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.
It’s weird writing at the end of the day. Not writing in the morning made me feel off kilter. Morning writing is a personal commitment.
Personal commitments either mean something or they don’t.
And personal integrity – doing what we say we’re going to do – is the key to being a workplace leader.
We know this.
The first victory is over self.

Personal leadership 101: Do others know your vision?
The voice (always) in my tweets, updates, blogs, & book is (always) me talking to the broken & beautiful person in the mirror.
If anything you read strikes an uncomfortable cord, know that it struck me first.
i’ve learned to welcome discomfort as a trusted advisor.
In my discomfort resides hope, and (maybe) enough motivation to do something that matters.
PS. the lower case i is intentional. A small (yet personally powerful) act to remain humble.
Note to self (always): Life is not a dress rehearsal. Live like you mean it.

Fancy graphic design can be an insidious place to hide.
Why?
Because it’s tempting to disguise boring with polish.
If the point of your website is a one-time visit, then maybe.
If the point is primarily content creation (daily, thought-provoking content), better to focus on real versus shiny.
Stories and relevance are far more important than bells and whistles.
