Going to work at Glacier

mountains with a couple small Disney toy figurines in foreground
Easy to write from anywhere in Glacier. Even here.

There are a few people i’d love to see in Glacier that still have to balance an ability to work from anywhere. Meaning they aren’t yet retired.

That’s why wifi and cell signal realities need to be easily understood.

Glacier is a big place and the reality is your work routine needs to creatively pivot in a way you’ve never done before.

This pivoting every Summer, and the creative tweaks from continuous improvement allow for a workable system that still surprises me.

Do like you dream

Mountains
Two bikers on the left waiting for a bear to leave the road ahead.

Dreams are important for forming your current and future actions.

All year i dream of biking GTTSR.

In theory, because i have Lodge reservations for the peak biking month, it should happen every year.

In reality, it’s happened twice since 2013.

It won’t happen this year either.

Dream like you hike.

Do like you pray.

Group solitude?

Half dozen hikers deep in the wilderness
We were the only ones at this mountain pass. Five miles from the nearest mountain road. About 60 miles from anything close to resembling a normal road.

Can you enjoy solitude in a group?

Depends.

On what?

Where you are.

Huh?

If there are nine of you at 7,500’ elevation and literally no one else on the one-million acres surrounding your group, then yes.

Excel

Pixar UP movie poster
Excellence feeds on excellence. It’s a habit. Same with the opposite.

Nearly seven weeks from the one-way ticket to the mountains.

In a perfectly-planned world, i’d be leaving in four days.

This Summer will be more of the same and more different.

How can it be both?

Better yet, how can it not?

Excel at all you do, including adventure.

It’s out there.

No regrets.

GNP Day 59, work

15-second video: Behind the scenes, on the way to the airport. Sharing just for fun.

Personal leadership vibrancy includes nuances like noise cancelling headphones, while flying eight hours today.

We are also wearing face masks. We are likely the only ones on a full flight doing so.

Small things, healthy choices, add up.

The leadership part of vibrancy requires doing the basics brilliantly.

To know is to do.

To know and not do is to not yet know.

Lead yourself.

It’s your greatest privilege and your most remarkable opportunity.
