How big is too big?

Took this photo immediately following a coaching call yesterday. It was in my line of sight as i got up from the desk.

It resonated because of something the CEO said.

She said, “Compared to a year ago (just before our relationship began) my Cabinet is experiencing tremendous organizational vibrancy, my Leadership Council’s vibrancy is strong, and we are about to expose our Staff to the cultural architecture.”

She went on to add, “For me personally, I’ve experienced exponential learning. Jeff, you’ve given me the gift of thinking big.”

How do you become the guy sitting in the back corner?

Disney keynote speaker
Preparing for a presentation from the pool, last night.

How do you become the guy sitting in the back corner reading a book?

Picture a room full of 300 people sitting impatiently for what is about to happen. By the way all 300 of them do what you do for a living.

Now imagine a buyer (potential client) up on the stage at the front of the ballroom.

The client says to the audience, who are sitting down at this point, “Who amongst you is the one person i should hire?”

Now what you observe is 300 desperate professionals all on their feet, jumping up and down, hand waving wildly and shouting, “Pick me, pick me, pick me!”

But you have remained seated, head down, quietly reading a book.

Who will intrigue the client, since she can see it all from her vantage point up on the stage?

Most organizational cultures are a mess

Disney Keynote Speaker
The evil step sister’s faces are not white, on purpose. When the glass slipper fit Cinderella, they both had an emotional reaction.

Most organizational cultures are a mess.

Why?

Because there’s no set of blueprints.

No foundation that’s set in stone.

This lack of foundation perpetuates an endless list of plans that are not tied to the big picture – the vision.

The best analogy i can share is comparing adult intentionality when it comes to personal wellness.

Can you make the comparison?

Are you fascinated by the way people…

Inspiring vision for waste management
Our job as an employee is to continuously make what we do better than it used to be done. See the question in the white box?

Are you fascinated by the way people can easily see the faults of others yet appear to be blind to their own?

At some point in life, we should mature to a place where anything other than striving for excellence, continuously improving, and teaching others is a missed opportunity.

Agree or disagree?

Why?

i turned around and she had stopped waving to provide VIP (Very Individual person) treatment.

Are you clear on your career goals and expectations?

Your career is your contribution to society.

Your contribution is directly tied to your spirit.

Your spirit is tied to your attitude.

And so on and so forth.
