Three Olympic Nights?

No, not yet.

There are still three nights of USATF Olympic Trails, starting tomorrow.

Note: Day 5 and 6 are rest days. Tomorrow is Day 7.

Every morning. All day. Every day. Day after day.

It’s not lost on me that my clock is ticking.

It’s not lost on me that i’m five years past my ‘dead’-line.

It’s not lost on me that we are ‘time-wealthy’.

We can do whatever we want whenever we want.

This, coming from a couple that never could find time to meet for lunch while working (on-the-clock) at Walt Disney World.

It’s almost sickening to think that our work/career schedules demanded so much commitment and focus that we could not break away for a single lunch for three consecutive decades.

And in the ‘no-one-cares’ category, i still have never owned a new car.

All that to circle back and say we do what we please now.

We walked 3 miles around Mount Tibrogargan.

i’m interested in doing this but not worried if i don’t.

Not many mountains here.

Got used to that six months ago.

But the few that are here are striking.

Heaps normal

Chapin’s flatmates. Sebastian heads back to Munich in a couple days. Geordie has dual citizenship here and the UK. We other three fly home to Walt Disney World in a week.

Normal is one of the most misunderstood words.

dad

What is normal.

It depends.

It depends on who you ask.

It depends on where you are.

It depends on what dogma and traditions you’ve been exposed to.

And that’s just the proverbial tip of the iceberg.

Insight: Normal may best be defined as the opposite of harmful, unfair, uncaring.

Career workarounds

Retail signage
The number of tourists (like me) who veer 100’ off the beaten path to see this sign is probably close to zero. Honored to be an anomaly.

The most important career imperative is doing things differently than everyone else.

dad

We don’t need more of the same because if it’s the same it’s not an improvement. We need different. Different is how improvement is made.
