Disney’s Continuous Improvement Process

Disney Stroller
You couldn’t take Disney Strollers on the Train and the Train was the quickest way to get to the back of the Park. Huge Guest dissatisfier.

Recognize and celebrate is often the most difficult (at least for me) because as soon as something is improved or solved, there is always an immediate need to solve or improve something else clamoring for attention.

On April Fool’s Day 2009, jeff noel began writing five daily, differently-themed blogs (on five different sites). It was to be a 100-day self-imposed “writer’s bootcamp”, in preparation for writing his first book. He hasn’t missed a single day since.

Plan for it to end

Daisies
Anomaly? It happens. A few days ago driving Going-to-the-Sun Road for the final time before heading home.

Plan for it to end. Literally a four day notice. Thankful for the time we had and what we accomplished together in 90 days.

Is there a chance it will continue?

Of course.

Remain optimistic, keep moving forward, and expect the unexpected.

Given the chance we almost always avoid it

Metaphorically speaking, you need to want change as much as you want your next breath.

Given the chance to avoid change, we’ll likely take it.

Given the chance, we’ll interpret our opportunity to change as too difficult, too time consuming, too disruptive, and too painful.

Given the chance, we’d rather talk about how miserable uncomfortable we are than do anything that will change our circumstances.

First impulse was to walk away without a second thought

Facebook Messenger screen shot
Potential business opportunity from a Facebook message.

Will this insignificant business opportunity be significant?

First impulse was to walk away without a second thought.

Why?

Because the fee is ridiculously low.

What the vendor is offering in exchange for four days of work isn’t even remotely close to what i charge for a 60-90 minute Keynote speech.

So i started asking, “What intangible benefit(s) is disguised behind the price tag?”

Suddenly, i became intrigued.
