Mastering email

Email organization — Example of digital email folders.

Challenged him late last night to spend today and tomorrow getting some personal organizational structure in place, particularly with email.

Without digital email folders, email becomes much more difficult to master.

My goal with email has evolved over 20 years and last year took a dramatic leap forward.

i do not go to bed until all three folders are empty:

Inbox
Deleted
Sent

Am i serious? Yes.

Is it easy? No.

Am i able to do it? Yes, everyday for 13 months straight.

If we let it, our job is a great place to hide.

Meetings, lists, projects.

Managerial stuff.

Makes us too busy for our art.

The work that matters. The work we leave undone.

(pause and think about that, then read on)

Hire someone great at managing things needing managed.

Become reacquainted with your highest form of contribution.

That’s your art.

Transform yourself into the artist you were born to be.

Better late than never.

The hurdle is this: completing the first step, which is recognizing in yourself what you were made to be.

Osborne Spectacle of Dancing Lights ended last night

Minnie Mouse at Disney's Hollywood Studios — By chance, we traveled the same path for a few moments.

Osborne Dancing Lights at Disney — It was actually cold and the snow machine created a realistic light snowfall.

Cheryl comes home from work. She unloads her work stuff from the van and then we head out for a 5:45pm Brown Derby reservation. The Magic began as soon as we arrived. Can’t share the Disney secrets except to say that we feel exceptionally lucky to get to do what we get to do. Magic also happens “backstage”.
