People as teachers

Early in the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

People as teachers.

Spouse, family, friends, colleagues, businesses, neighbors.

Everything has a teachable moment in it.

Just like the beauty of nature or the Grace of God – it’s ever present. Never-ending.

People teach us by what they do and don’t do.

What people say is false teaching.

Why?

Because…words don’t teach, what you do teaches.

What you do thunders so loudly, i cannot hear what you say.

We judge ourselves on our intentions, others judge us on our behaviors.

You cannot talk your way out of a situation you acting yourself into.

Context: Behaviors must be witnessed. You cannot truthfully judge on behaviors from a story you are told, only from a story you witness. You must be a first-hand witness. We forget this.

Leadership’s role?

Here’s an important context: Orange County Code allows 60dB acceptable noise level. Anything above that constitutes disturbing the peace. The DJ’s PA system and his music speakers (two separate noise sources) easily over 100dB.

The second important contextual point: Have been speaking to the Church staff and Leadership for over a year. This is a critical note – based on the sound level and duration, there appeared to be a complete disregard for Orange County Code enforcement standards.

One simple question.

Why?

Because yesterday was an absolute heinous noise violation.

Heinous.

Completely avoidable.

Totally forgiven.

So…

Begging this question to Church leadership: What noise guidelines have you established with your campus activities team?

Noise guidelines may be the key to a mutually beneficial environment.

We will eventually arrive at a solution.

We are good, decent, respectful, loving people.

And, as all Americans should be, law-abiding citizens.

Easy peasy.

Chronic career issues define your future.

Chronic issues also foreshadow your life’s quality in the final decades.

Decades.

One, two, or even three decades of poor work habits compounding over time.

The reverse of compound interest is compound decline.

Remarkable news, the reverse of compound decline is compound increase.

Compounding for one, two, or even three decades with great work habits.
