Dream big at work

Dream big at work.

This is a Pandora’s box.

  1. Educate yourself. Relentlessly, consistently, inspirationally.
  2. Observe others. Relentlessly, consistently, inspirationally.
  3. Discern. Remove the chaff.
  4. Practice. Relentlessly, consistently, inspirationally.
  5. Repeat steps 1,2,3,4 forever.

The final chapter is dying gracefully with peace and contentment.

All of this effort is never mentioned in any employee or leadership manual i’ve seen.

Good luck with that

smaller bird chasing an Eagle
Crow chasing Bald Eagle.

Courage takes many forms.

Living and learning is my favorite.

Weekend day, lovely weekend day

Leaning into discomfort.

How?

By having fun while .thinking .differently

Why?

Pursuing personal transformation and the ripple effects transformation brings.

Big decisions, work

Making that 2008 command decision to retire in 2014 was semi-easy.

The motivation was compelling. Do not squander your son’s final four high school years by being a constant globe trotter for Disney Institute.

This looming decision to permanently quit working is familiar in its potential impact. The key word is ‘potential’. There are no guarantees with potential. Only possibilities, no guarantees.

Note: The original early-retirement catalyst was the 2008-09 USA Real Estate and Banking collapse. This led to Cast Member reductions (aka terminations). For the first time in my 25 years, the reality that no one is safe struck hard. Decided the over-focused thing would be to create a Plan B should the worst ever happen again.

Busy-ness is toxic

When our calendar is packed and then a small but important to solve challenge appears. And sometimes (daily?) more than one challenge appears. Photo: This 17 should never be more than two. Never.

Business consulting-type work has heightened my awareness of, and ability to consciously detect, how busy most people are.

It’s obscene.

The stress has unknowingly become contagious.

But now it’s crystal clear.

Ask me how much busy-ness i can tolerate at this life-stage.

Easy answer at six-plus decades on the planet and five-plus decades in the workforce…

Zero.
